De ontwikkelingen in het digitale landschap gaan razendsnel. Al deze ontwikkelingen samen disrupteren het huidige zakelijke speelveld. Je zou het kunnen vergelijken met een ‘Perfect Storm’, maar dan een perfect digital storm. Deze storm leidt tot een opkomst van een groot aantal nieuwe spelers, die allemaal de de relatie met de consument naar zich toe willen trekken. Het gevecht om de consument is dus hevig. Een sterke digitale footprint is noodzakelijk om te overleven.
Merken besteden enorm veel aandacht en geld aan hun fysieke flagship store. Denk aan uitstraling van het pand, inrichting, kleding personeel, sfeer, assortiment etc etc. De digitale footprint van veel merken is echter vaak teleurstellend slecht. Meestal veroorzaakt door organisatiestructuur en systemen. Om dit te doorbreken zouden ze er naar moeten kijken alsof het hun fysieke flagship store is!
Een digital flagship is een abstracte metafoor voor een geïntegreerde digitale aanwezigheid in het digitale ecosysteem van communities, blogs, vergelijkingssites, et cetera.
Hoe bouw je een digital flagship store? Je digital flagship bestaat uit verschillende bouwstenen, zoals inspiratie, productinformatie, eCommerce en een servicecenter. Er zijn vijf archetype flagshipstores. De business strategie bepaalt welk type bij jouw merk past. Elementen daarbij zijn: de kracht van het merk, macht van de distributie, complexiteit van het product en kanaalgebruik van jouw doelgroep.
