The Beatles were a famous British band formed in the 1960s by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They built their reputation playing in clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg before rising to fame. In 1965, Queen Elizabeth II appointed the band members to the Order of the British Empire. Some of the band's most famous songs were inspired by dreams, and they were known to have smoked marijuana on occasion.
