Randall Grahm purchased property in San Juan Bautista, California in 1980-1981 and established Bonny Doon Vineyard. He began producing Rhone varieties in the early 1980s and gained recognition as a pioneer of the "Rhone Ranger" movement. Today, after reducing production significantly in the late 2000s, Grahm focuses on making small-production, high-quality wines from estate vineyards. He currently oversees around 25 wines that showcase Rhone and Bordeaux varieties grown in California.
