Classical and Hellenistic Greece had a lasting influence on Western civilization from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. The region was originally dominated by separate city-states but a shared culture and language emerged. During the Golden Age of Athens in the 5th century BC, Greek culture flourished and democracy was developed. Greek philosophy, architecture, art, and sciences were spread throughout the Mediterranean world by Alexander the Great's conquests in the 4th century BC, establishing the Hellenistic period.
Why I love 'digital' - a presentation to inspire my colleaguesJo Walters
A presentation I delivered to colleagues at the University of Sussex Students' Union at the start of our digital transformation project. I wanted to share my enthusiasm, explain what I mean by 'digital' and get them thinking about some of the options it offers us

This document provides an overview of a webinar on reducing shoplifting. It introduces the speaker, Romeo Richards, who has decades of experience in retail consulting. Richards will share strategies for making stores a "shoplifting free zone" and guaranteeing an 84% reduction in shoplifting by implementing 20% of his strategies. He explains that shoplifting accounts for 43% of store shrinkage and costs retailers millions. Richards also stresses that shoplifting has become more sophisticated, carried out by organized crime rings. The document then covers reasons for shoplifting, hotspots, peak times, and stresses the importance of effective policies, procedures, store design, and technology for reducing theft opportunities.
This short document discusses laughter and its scientific investigation. It mentions neurotransmitters which are chemicals in the brain and nervous system that transmit signals between neurons. The document focuses on the brain and nervous system aspects of laughter.

This document summarizes the restoration of the Holy Shroud Chapel in Turin, Italy following a devastating fire in 1997. A comprehensive documentation and management system was developed using GIS to aid the restoration process. Over 5,000 elements of the chapel were documented through surveys, analyses, and inspections. This data was stored and managed through a custom web-based GIS system called AGR to allow specialists to query and analyze the data. AGR will also be used to document the restoration work and implement a monitoring system to track the structural stability of the chapel over time.

La nuova proposta
progettuale si pone come
principio fondamentale l'uso
di tecnologie e materiali
locali " ibridati" con le
conoscenze e le tecnologie
"occidentali" per migliorare
la qualità dei materiali e
delle stesse tecnologie
costruttive. Lo scopo ultimo
è dimostrare che si può
ottenere un manufatto
edilizio di ottima qualità e
durabilità senza utilizzare la
tecnologie del cemento
armato ma
sfruttando/utilizzando
conoscenze e risorse locali,
garantendo un risparmio
considerevole rispetto al
prezzo del progetto
originale dell'ISCOS.

rettangolare tracciando un'area
per lo stoccaggio dei cereali di
51 mq circa (adatta per
contenere la stessa quantità di
cereali del progetto originale).
