SLUM REDEVELOPMENT THESIS ( REVAMPING VATHURUTHY- COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE AN...SIJOMONACHAN
The thesis project started with the in-detail study of the Vathuruthy community through the research and studies done within the community it helps to understand about the needs and alignments of the community so by this we can understood what all the amenities are they needed. The project also envisioned the regenerating the potential of that place by introducing innovative architectural features.
From the 2011 census, it was understood that Kerala holds the largest number of Tamil migrant workers, which establish to almost 53% of the entire migrant work force in the state. Vathuruthy accommodates Kochi’s largest Tamil settlement of migrant laborers. This large cluster of residential networks of 8.5 acres land initially was bare land. Migrant laborers initially started settling under temporary shelters with around 12 families. The affordability factor led them to settle at Vathuruthy and the area started to grow gradually. It was also implicit that in the beginning, the Tamil migrant groups at Vathuruthy have adapted the single-room mass housing settlements, also the public spaces like main roads and streets turned to be spaces of for their recreational activity.
Migration is a very complex phenomena in the perspective of socio-cultural and economic life. Migrants are often represented as a ‘matter out of place' to be excluded from or integrated into an urban space. In Kerala, Tamil migrants constitute 53% of the total migrants in the state. With rapid urbanization and recent booms in the real estate markets in Kerala, the state's economy has seen an increase in the infrastructure and construction sectors, which indirectly draws a lot of migration as a part of this growing urbanization. This research intends to study the existing spatial politics associated with migrant laborers and the level of social inclusiveness in an urban setting. The research also aims to identify and explain the correlation with migration decisions and the concept of social exclusion. Different types of social exclusion faced by migrants are studied and the most vulnerable group of migrants is identified. In this context, the research also attempts to analyses spatial dimensions of social exclusion and argues that a socially inclusive spatial typology in an urban setting can reduce the social exclusion faced by the migrant labour community. Revamping can improve the quality and standard of living. supporting amenities such as primary health care facility, facilitation and development Centre migrants can uplift skill for their standard of living and provide an inclusive area and increase liability of the area.

For Godlike kings of old ».

You will help us realize it! We partecipate in an on-line competition that promotes new and good ideas for the city of Rome, Italy
San Lorenzo, historical working-class neighborhood in Rome, still has some of the buildings truncated by the 1943 bombing. Vertical blind walls, deteriorated memories of a piece of History remembered by no one. The time for action has arrived, in order to commemorate, to heal and to cicatrize those wounds. The project aims at transforming those buildings' scars in an opportunity to remember History and to beautify the neighborhood, doing so without having to build anything new but filling the emptiness produced by the bombs with new life: vegetation able to vertically grow on those walls, empty since the buildings collapsed. The project will involve, among others, the co-owners and it will provide them with the perspective of several possible convenient solutions, going from the improvement of the thermal insulation to the benefits of a photovoltaic system for irrigation.

For Godlike kings of old » -.

19. .
Una struttura urbana è ecosostenibile
se, in armonia con l’ambiente, non
compromette la capacità della
natura di rigenerarsi.
20. .
La città deve prendere parte
ai cicli vitali, avere un
metabolismo, come
accade nelle comunità di
ecosistemi dove la
produzione di rifiuti è
anche produzione di
alimenti, il decadimento è
rinascita
21. .
• È necessaria una cultura
del progetto che sostenga
la vita, occorre una
visione ampia che abbia
l’obbiettivo di creare
luoghi strutturati in modo
tale da mettere in moto
flussi di materia e di
energia in cooperazione
con la natura.
22. Una tale cultura cambia
l’approccio al mondo materiale
e genera valori e regole di
condotta per cui la natura non
è più vista come un bene di
consumo.
l’abitazione.
• Le terrazze, i basamenti e le altre
superfici che potrebbero entrare in contatto
con l’acqua sono impermeabilizzate con
calce mescolata a chiare d’uovo a
terreni coltivati.
sarebbe gravemente danneggiata. I solidi
sono raccolti in camere per poi essere
utilizzati come fertilizzanti.
preparato e poi direttamente trasportato e impilato o gettato a
costruire una muratura spessa, modellata a mano senza casseformi.
Spesso l’esecutore sta in piedi sul muro e compatta l’impasto insieme
con i piedi. La superficie viene poi parificata e raddrizzata tagliando
eventuali parti in eccesso.
adriatica, nelle Marche e in Abruzzo.

34. Preparazione,messa in opera,finiture.
Operazioni:
Aggiungere la paglia e mescolarla all’impasto.
desiderata.
compattarli.
Chiaramente i setti preformati,
36. Osservazioni:
impasto plastico, e dunque molto ricco d’acqua, su grandi spessori comporta
In particolare
Forlani , Maggioli Editore 2001
Arg-e Bam Iran 250 a.C.
Preparazione,messa in opera,finiture.
Gettare l’impasto nelle forme.
Impilare i mattoni in uno spazio possibilmente ventilato.
41. Messa in opera:
43. Composizione, dati tecnici, caratteristiche fisiche e meccaniche.
Composizione:
15-18% argilla
10-28% limo
55-75% sabbia
15-30% acqua
Peso specifico:
ca. 1400-1600 kg/mc.
Resistenza a compressione 4,25- 2,25 MN/mq (kg/cmq)
44. La delibera della costruzione
della Terra Nova venne presa
da Firenze nel 1299, ma la sua
edificazione non iniziò fino al
1337.
Per la progettazione della
pianta del paese furono presi
a modello altri centri, a loro
volta ispirati al castrum
romano, costruiti per ordine di
Firenze: nel Valdarno, San
Giovanni e Castelfranco di
Sopra, Scarperia nella Val di
Sieve e Firenzuola nella Valle
del Santerno, le cosiddette
città murate.

La materia e l’identità locale
Terranuova Bracciolini
48. La casa è stata costruita all’ inizio dell’ ‘800
Frosali, l’artefice dell’ intervento.
teste messa in opera a mattoni affiancati e
sfalsati in altezza.
49. Analisi dell’adobe di Piazza Trento
dimensioni: 32x12x6cm
50. Faccia superiore:trattamento a scriminature, probabilmente come
57. .
• Prima di tutto si comincia
a lavorare la terra con l’
acqua. Impastare la terra
con l’acqua attiva i legami
ionici della struttura
cristallina dell’argilla. È
fondamentale che
l’impasto sia ben lavorato
e compattato. Si formano
poi delle sfere.
58. • Un primo criterio di
valutazione sta nel
tagliare la sfera con una
lama e osservare la
sezione: se questa è più o
meno lucida la terra è più
o meni argillosa. La
seconda prova è olfattiva:
se la terra ha un cattivo
odore, lo scavo non è
stato fatto a una
profondità sufficiente e
contiene residui organici
ed è inutilizzabile.
I quattro provini visti
dall’alto in senso orario ci
dicono che il 1° è troppo
sabbioso e si è disgregato, il 2°
contiene le giuste proporzioni
di argilla, calce e sabbia infatti
non è esploso e si è
leggermente adagiato, il 3° si è
appiattito di poco ed è troppo
argilloso infine il 4° è
decisamente troppo argilloso,
ha mantenuto la sua forma
iniziale è il provino proveniente
dal Borro del Tasso.
60. • Quarta prova: si
modellano dei cilindri
dalla sezione di circa due
centimetri o diametro
minore se l’impasto lo
permette.
61. • I cilindri si fanno scorrere
lentamente in verticale, se si
spezzano in pezzi di lunghezza
dai 5cm ai 10 cm la terra ha
buone qualità per essere
trasformata in materiale da
costruzione.Il provino del
Borro del Tasso si rompe a
circa 8 cm. L’ultima prova
consiste nel lavarsi le mani: se
si fa fatica a rimuovere la terra
più sottile significa che questa
era molto argillosa.
62. • Ne l vasto lavoro di
Gernot Minke
rientrano anche molti
laboratori che vanno
da questa esperienza
base, di entrata in
contatto con il
materiale terra fino
all’autocostruzione di
case e cupole in
mezzo mondo.
qualità come materiale da costruzione;
argillosa occorre aggiungere calce,
digrassanti e altri leganti quali la paglia
per formare l’ impasto dell’ adobe di
Terranuova Bracciolini. Una tecnica
tradizionale elaborata nel tempo
