4. Main Weebly Login Window Grade Level Site Teacher A Site Teacher B Site Teacher C Site Up to 10 sites total per account!!!
5. 1 2 3 4 5 Top LEFT of the Weebly Editor The 5 tabs each have a specific purpose… (See slides to come…) Top RIGHT of the Weebly Editor The Publish button will make your site LIVE – and will require that you enter/create a URL the first time. The Close button will take you back to the main account window.
6. Adding and Organizing Pages The page at the top will be the HOME page – the first page people see when they visit your site – you can drag the pages to rearrange their order. One page should be a BLOG page – this is where you will update class news, etc., like a digital newsletter The rest of your pages should be ‘regular’ pages – and can even be grouped… Your site can have as many pages and sub-pages as you want, since there are no page limits for either free or paid accounts.
7. Settings! This is where your PUBLISHED URL is changed This is just the Title of your site – shows up on the top of all your pages… If you choose to password protect your site – this is where it’s done This is text that goes at the bottom of every page - you can change or remove it!
8. Site Design The Design of your site is the general way it looks – the colors, fonts, and layout. The design can be changed at any time – and will not affect your content Some themes have the page links down the left side, and some have it across the top. You can change the header image in the design theme you select, so just look at layout, colors, etc. Once you select your design, you can further customize your fonts and text colors
9. In order to type on your page, you need to add items from Elements – I call these widgets. Elements Elements are the basic building blocks of your site. All of your site content, be it text, pictures, videos or what have you, is added via an element. The most common widgets that you will add are under BASIC: Paragraph, Picture, Title, etc. Some more fun and interesting widgets are under Multimedia: Embed document, slideshow, etc. When you are on a BLOG type page – then you will also have a Blog Sidebar category
10. Publishing your Site Any time you make changes to your Weebly site you must Publish it for the world to see. It will automatically ask you to enter a URL the first time you Publish, IF you have not set one under Settings. Here, you will see that your website is published, and you can click the blue link to visit your site. (yoursite.weebly.com) At the bottom, they are suggesting that you PURCHASE a URL for your site that does not have Weebly in it. This is unnecessary, you can ignore it.
11. Adding an image from your computer … First, drag a Picture widget down from Elements – Multimedia. Second, click on the blue box that says “Click here to edit.” Last, click on Choose File to get a dialog box in which you can locate and select your image.
