  1. What do we want our graduates to become? Learning for an unknown future
  2. 4.1 and 4.3 The Learning2014 strategy focuses on what students need to do in order to learn – set goals for their learning, access and engage with learning resources from all sources, come to class and make use of what they’ve learned, face to face and using technologies in class, receiving feedback and reflecting. Learning technologies are an integrated part of the UTS Learning2014 – soon to be renamed – strategy. Based on generative learning, connectivist and experiential learning principles.
  3. Benchmark 2.2. UTS routinely evaluates broad student and staff perceptions – SSS, IT survey, staff survey every 2 years including technology questions, student experience of technologies survey 2010, 2013. For example, note the prominence of wireless in the 2010 improvements and its much smaller presence in 2013. ITCMP bids require that a case be made for new or improved technologies, based on strategic and operational needs. Evaluation data are used along with environmental scans, routine system monitoring and risk management, etc to make the case and to monitor ongoing provision.

Building on their intellectual and practical capabilities as a professional commences at Day 1 of their tertiary experience at UTS. .Contemporary perspectives of what a professional ‘Engineer/IT’ is implies that today’s professionals must possess more than technical competence. As the participants progress in O’camp and in the university environment, they will learn and experience what it means to know, think and act as professionals.
