UTS is transitioning its approach to learning from Learning2014 to Learning.Futures. A 2013 survey found students doing more work on campus and using mobile technologies more compared to 2010. While technology currently assists learning, it could be improved. UTS wants students to engage in creating e-portfolios, authentic assessments, and collaboration. It is exploring how to recognize learning from formal and informal activities using analytics and seeing how students envision the future of learning.

Technology plays an important role in modern education by serving as a powerful tool for learning that helps prepare students for the real world. It allows students and teachers to access up-to-date information, helps students learn efficiently, boosts student interest, and gives students opportunities to interact and collaborate more. When integrated into the classroom, technology also helps teachers become more of a facilitator by encouraging, motivating, and advising their students.
