Social-cultural anthropology is the study of human societies and cultures. It seeks to understand relationships, institutions, and patterns of life through examining kinship, marriage, family, religion, economics, politics, art, music and other cultural domains. Researchers typically conduct face-to-face studies of small-scale societies. Social-cultural anthropology is related to but distinct from social anthropology and cultural anthropology. It views culture and society as deeply interconnected and studies topics like economic, political, religious, educational and medical systems within human groups. The field has numerous sub-disciplines that focus on different aspects of social and cultural life.
