Baseball was invented by Abner Doubleday in Cooperstown, New York. The first eight professional baseball teams included the Chicago White Stockings, St. Louis Brown Stockings, Hartford Dark Blues, Boston Red Caps, Louisville Greys, New York Mutual, Philadelphia Athletics and the Cincinnati Reds. In baseball, there are 9 fielders and 1-4 batters/runners on the field at once. The pitcher throws the ball from the middle of the infield to the catcher behind the batter, who can throw up to 105 mph in the MLB or around 58 mph in little league. The batter tries to hit the pitched ball with a bat to run bases and score a run.
