This document discusses vapor retarders and provides specifications for sheet vapor retarders and penetration accessories. It lists several acceptable product options for the sheet vapor retarder that meet the standard of having a perm rating of 0.3 or less. It also provides specifications for acceptable granular sodium bentonite products to use for penetration accessories.

1. VAPOR RETARDERS<br />Retain one sheet vapor retarder from first four paragraphs below if a non-bituminous water vapor retarder is required.<br />Retain option and insert perm rating in first paragraph below if requiring a stricter perm rating than the 0.3 perms permitted by ASTM E 1745. See Evaluations.<br />Sheet Vapor Retarder: ASTM E 1745, Class A. Material must be made with 100% virgin polyolefin resin. Contractor must install per manufacturers recommended installation instructions and per ASTM 1643. Include manufacturer's recommended adhesive or pressure-sensitive tape.<br />See Editing Instruction No. 1 in the Evaluations for cautions about naming manufacturers and products.
