The Barbican Art Gallery exhibition "Another Kind of Life: Photography on the Margins" features over 300 photographs from 20 international photographers documenting people living on the margins of society from the 1950s to present day. The exhibition addresses what it means to exist outside mainstream society and the role of artists in portraying subcultures. It includes photos of transgender sex workers in 1980s Chile, men living off the grid in America, street kids in Seattle, and urban nomads in Nigeria. The diverse collection reflects complex and authentic views of gender, sexuality, countercultures, and minorities.
