Powers and Duties of the Sanggunian Barangay
Member
As a member of the legislative body of the barangay,
he shall:
• Propose measures for deliberations and adoption of the
sangguniang barangay;
• Participate in meetings of his committee;
• Participate in the discussions of any business during
sangguniang barangay sessions;
• Vote for the approval or disapproval of proposed ordinances
and resolutions;
•Assist the punong barangay in the discharge of his duties;
THE SECRETARY
Duties of the Barangay Secretary.
a. Keep custody of all records
of the sangguniang barangay and the
barangay assembly meetings
b. Prepare and keep the minutes of all
meetings of the sangguniang barangay
and the barangay assembly;
c. Certify all ordinances enacted and
resolutions adopted by the sanggunian;
d. Furnish copies of all barangay ordinances
and resolutions to the sangguniang bayan for
review as to whether the ordinance is
consistent with law and municipal ordinances
within ten (10) days after its enactment.
THE SECRETARY
Absence of the Barangay Secretary.
• In case of the absence of the barangay secretary
during sessions, any appointive barangay official
shall perform the powers and duties of the
barangay secretary.
• No member of the sanggunian shall be allowed
to take the minutes of their sessions.
