BABELE is a non-profit organization in Pavia, Italy that has operated since 2001 to help integrate foreign families. It provides various services free of charge like linguistic and cultural mediation, information and guidance on Italian laws, and after-school programs. Some of BABELE's projects include youth centers, intercultural education programs in schools, support networks for immigrant mothers and children, and facilitating community activities to encourage relationships between residents. BABELE also helps organize international youth exchanges to promote cultural understanding.

2. BABELE is a non profit organization that has been
operating since 2001 for the integration of foreign
families in Pavia area.

3. BABELE is active in several areas: linguistic and
cultural mediation, information, guidance and advice
on the laws that regulate the entry and stay in Italy,
cooperation with the Foreign Desk of the town center;
afterschool activities for young people.
Babel tries to improve and strengthen the ties
between the associations and the city, at the same
time spreading the message of solidarity and defense
of human and civil rights. All services are free of
charge.

4. Cultural Mediation
When different cultures come into contact conflicts
can arise: it can be necessary to mediate in order to
make the meeting constructive, overcoming
misconceptions and discovering new perspectives.
In particular Babel deals with mediation to facilitate
the integration of foreigner people into Italian society.

6. PROJET WITH THE LOCAL DEPARTMENT OF
SOCIAL SERVICES

afternoon language laboratories at Youth Centres Comes and
Clouds supporting foreign young people to learn Italian as L2 and
promoting intercultural dialogue.

7. O.L.T. R.E.
in collaboration with ACLI Board, Cooperative ConTatto
and some Pavia’s schools. The exponential growth of
immigrant families in our province requires careful reading
of new needs. The project proposes guidelines for
teachers: in particular simplified teaching units for foreign
students and tools to evaluate skills and attitudes of foreign
students in order to direct them towards paths for success
in school.

Foreign desk activities in the Front
Office of Pavia Municipality for cultural
mediation. The project includes actions
about information, linguistic mediation
and assistance for foreign citizens and
also linguistic and cultural mediation
activities in local schools

11. SAY “THIRTY THREE
linguistic and cultural mediation in health
care, funded by Alliance Taurus Foundation: 500 hours of
linguistic and cultural mediation at Hospitals, especially
Policlinico San Matteo (Pavia), in favor of families with
minor children hospitalized.

12. Quarter Friend Neighborhood Friend
Project for the implementation of activities in suburban
districts: Borgo, Pavia West and Scala, financed by
Fondazione Cariplo, collaborating with the Volunteer Service
Center and with the participation and support of Pavia
municipality. It involves the construction of aggregation
moments to stimulate the relational dynamics between the
inhabitants with the involvement of shops and merchants.
