Babar Maqbool Khan organized a lesson on road safety and traffic education for students at Faisal Public School in Multan, Pakistan. Students were assigned tasks to raise awareness of traffic rules, such as cleaning roads, making a zebra crossing, and creating sign charts and pamphlets. A traffic instructor then visited the school and explained traffic rules to the students. Students demonstrated their work and distributed pamphlets to people on a nearby road, who were surprised and appreciated the initiative. Khan observed that this was an example of social entrepreneurship, as the students recognized a social problem and created a venture to promote social change through non-profit means.

To create a traffic park in order to develop pedagogical strategies that will help the children and young kids, at the Canaverales International School, as well as the children from the other schools in Yumbo, promote a campaign of safe mobility in our roads and streets. To emphasize preventing accidents and promoting safe habits and a save behaviors in the road. To try and lower the number of casualties due to wrong human behavior.
To reduce the number of accidents, schools need to work with traffic safety and Safe Roads awareness. To create an understanding for what can be done, the schools can start this to work from children´s angle with “My Dream Road”.
The result of this handbook will end in arranging an event in your school showing what and how the students have worked with this issue, who got rewards. In the program
you will invite parents, the road administration and politicians. Don’t forget to share your ideas and results of Safe Road to the net.

1. Week 6 assignment by “Babar Maqbool Khan”
Faisal Public School. Multan. Pakistan
Social Entrepreneurship
Today I have a lesson “Road Safety and Traffic Education” Dear students, it
is sad fact of the modern life that in our big cities, thousands of men, women
and children die every year in road accidents. And the number of those who
are injured is great. Some, after medical treatment recover but many are
crippled for life. Most of the roadside accidents occur either because of the
ignorance of traffic rules or inability to read and follow the road signs or out
of the sheer carelessness of the road users. Traffic rules apply to everybody
who is on the road either as a motor driver or as a pedestrian. Our actions
and those of others on the road are responsible for our health and our life. I
also used I.C.T tools to tell the learners about the importance of traffic rules.
The best way to engage learners is by injecting fun into learning. SO, I
decided for the awareness of traffic rules to learners, we and give them one
2. task. For the junior group, they will clean the roads. Primary group will
make zebra crossing in school ground. The middle group of learners will
make sign charts. Secondary group of learners will make traffic rules
pamphlet, which they distribute them among the people.
The management of Faisal Public School and I invited a traffic instructor for
learners who educate them clearly about the traffic education and road
safety.
After one week, traffic instructor came in our school. All the groups of
learners came with full of preparation and excitement. All the learners
gathered in school lawn.
First of all traffic instructor gave them lecture about rules and then middle
group of learners came with their different sign charts. The traffic instructor
appreciates their work and explains these sign charts to other learners.
3. The secondary group of learners came with their pamphlet. Instructor read
the rules and explains them.
He also told the learners about the importance of helmet. Instructor shows
his traffic hand signs.
Then the traffic instructor went to play ground of school where the primary
group of learners made zebra crossing. He also walked on the zebra crossing
to tell them how they will use it.
4. The junior section made a team and their target is to clean the roads.
Then learners with traffic instructor and their teacher Babar Maqbool Khan
went to the G.T road of Multan in school van.
The sun was shining and its heat was on peak. The temperature was 50c
approx. In spite of one of the hottest day of summer, the learners were much
5. excited and motivated on the road. The traffic instructor told them how they
would walk on the road.
The junior team and I collect the waste materials from the road. And also
request the people who were walking on the road that they should keep clean
their roads.
The other group of learners shows their sign charts to drivers and explains
them.
6. The group of learners also distributed their pamphlet to aware the people
about the traffic rules. The people who were on the road much surprised and
appreciate the learner’s work. They promised that they would obey the
traffic rules.
A man on the road said, “If we had more traffic sense, all of us would be
much safer on the road.”
All the learners decided that they would always obey the traffic rules and
also educate the other people who are living around them. Because they
want to avoid road accidents and keep save to their society.
7. In Pakistan road accidents are always a human tragedy. But the tragedy is
greatest when children are involved. Road traffic accidents push many
families more deeply into poverty by the loss of their breadwinners. If we
have traffic rules awareness, then accidents can be avoided, lives can be
saved and injuries can be avoided. Through this activity, I think new
generation can play an important role in society. They are finding new ways
to bring change in society. It is a really a good work and new idea to literate
the people. The people who are interested but do not have time through this
literacy can reach to people.
I also observed that this is social entrepreneurship. Because social
entrepreneur is some one who recognizes a social problem and uses
entrepreneurial principles to organize, create and manage a venture to make
social change. Unlike a business entrepreneur who typically measures
performance in profit and return, a social entrepreneur assesses success in
terms of the impact on society.
But social entrepreneurs are often non-profits. Social enterprises are for
“more – than – profit”.
