The Economics department was established in 1967 with two faculty members and ten students. It has since grown to four faculty members and 125 students. The department also offers courses to support other departments like History and Commerce. Several notable alumni have achieved high ranks in university and pursued further studies or careers in prestigious institutions. The current and past heads of the department have completed research projects. The department has organized various guest lectures, workshops, training programs and competitions to enhance students' skills and learning.

the year 1967-68 with two staff members and
ten students, in English medium.
At present there are four faculty members
and 125 students.
The Department also offered Allied papers
for History and Commerce departments.
3. A mention has to be made of our old student Ms.
Jayanthi Achappa, a first rank holder from the
University who joined Delhi School of Economics for
Higher Studies and later found a place in London
School of Economics.
Dr.Geetha Bai, Former Head, Department of
Economics, has completed a major project.
Dr.Hemasrikumar, Associate and Head of the
department, has completed a UGC minor project.
