This document summarizes the proceedings of the 1985 Workshop on Azolla Use held in Fuzhou, Fujian, China. The workshop was co-sponsored by the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the International Rice Research Institute, and others. It brought together participants from 10 countries to discuss using Azolla as a biofertilizer, animal and fish feed, and for taxonomy. Key recommendations included developing methods to induce sporocarp formation to aid distribution, analyzing nitrogen release from different Azolla strains, selecting low phosphorus requirement strains, and further researching Azolla's potential as an animal and fish feed. The workshop aimed to advance the use and understanding of Azolla through international collaboration.
