Background: Acute coronarysyndrome (ACS) isastressconditioncausingstresshyperglycemia.Aim;to
studythe correlationbetweenstresshyperglycemiaonarrival tohospital andthe outcomesof ACSincluding
the adverse eventsinourpopulation.Method:thisstudywasdesignedasa case seriesstudybyreviewingof
2. 223 medical recordsselectedrandomlyfromthe recordsof patientsadmittedincardiologydepartmentand
coronary care unitduringthe year2013 withdiagnosisof acute coronarysyndrome including:Acute
myocardial infarctionandunstable angina,the relevantdatacollectedfromthe recordsinapreformedcase
sheet,SPSSsoftware usedforanalysis,Ttest,Chi-square andSpearmancorrelationusedtofindrelations
betweenvariables.Results:male patientsdominatedthe proportionof ourstudy(70%),the age of patients
rangedfrom22 to 100 (58.7±14), 60% was knowncasesof diabetesmellitus,45% Hypertensive,and35%
currentsmokers.About70% had hyperglycemiaonarrival tohospital,25% of themwasnot knowndiabetics
before.60.6%was diagnosedwithSTEMI,33.7% withNSTEMI, and 5.5% withunstable angina.Onarrival
highbloodglucose wasassociatedwithadversehospitalizationevents(p=0.020);where we foundthatthe
bloodsugarsignificantlyhigherwithpatientscomplicatedwithVT,cardiogenicshockanddeathduring
hospitalization(p=0.015, 0.003, 0.001 respectively). Conclusion:ourstudyshowedthatsome adverse and
fatal hospitalizationeventsisassociatedwithhighbloodglucose onadmission.Recommendation:afurther
prospective studyonalargerscale in more than one centre isneeded
