Diversity in the technical workforce is a valuable asset for all companies, because it encourages different types of thinking and taps into the full potential of your team. Come learn from one AWS organization how a fast-moving, fast-growing team has put in place a "diversity circle" for personal and professional development. This program provides a peer mentoring group that builds skills and establishes informal networking support. The host and active participants of this two-year program will share tips and best practices for running a diversity peer mentoring group that spans engineering, product management, and operations.

Delivering Mission Critical Applications with Leostream and HP RGSLeostream
Everyone these days wants access to their applications and computing resource on the go. And we mean everyone — including users running graphics heavy applications such as 3D rendering.
How do you enable these users to be mobile, while securing their data in your datacenter, when they typically have a workstation sitting below their desk? The answer is easier than you think.

Introduction to Connection Broker TechnologyLeostream
When designing your hosted desktop environment, choosing the right connection broker is key to the overall usability of the system.
A connection broker is at the heart of any hosted desktop environment. It ties all of the pieces of your data center together, ideally providing a single pane of glass for you to manage all of your hosted resources and providing end users with a single login to access all of their allocated systems.
Leostream Webinar - OpenStack VDI and DaaSLeostream
OpenStack is changing the equation for virtual desktops and has the potential to turn VDI on its head.
Sneaking up through the ranks of open source software, OpenStack is increasingly being used to control large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources throughout a datacenter. Why not use it for your virtual desktop environments, as well?

Also provided are AWS CloudFormation templates to help automate deployment.
Amazon WorkSpaces: Desktop Computing in the Cloud (ENT104) | AWS re:Invent 2013Amazon Web Services
Desktop virtualization has long held the promise of productivity and security benefits, but has been held back by large CapEx requirements and complicated installation and management. In this session, we provide a detailed introduction to Amazon WorkSpaces, a new AWS service that combines the benefits of desktop virtualization and a cloud-based, pay-as-you-go model. You learn about the key steps for setting up and delivering a secure cloud-based workspace accessed through purpose-built client applications.
Amazon WorkSpaces provides a virtual desktop experience in the cloud. It replaces traditional computer lab approaches through mobile desktop environments that can be accessed from the classroom or at home. WorkSpaces’ device agnostic technology also pairs well with one-to-one initiatives across geographies on almost every tablet and/or computer in the market – all while enforcing security policies across the fleet. WorkSpaces also helps educational institutions quickly provision multiple desktops where users can access their applications, documents, and intranet resources that they need from a centralized location. Attend this webinar to discover alternatives to traditional Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and learn how to centralize management of student IT resources quickly, efficiently and at the lowest cost possible.
Best Practices for Architecting VDI with Flash StorageRyan Snell
Classic presentation from 2012 demonstrating exactly where the storage performance bottleneck is for virtual desktop environments that hampers the ability to scale VDI for optimal end user computing experience. Whiptail being the best solution of course!
Intro to Amazon WorkSpaces - AWS June 2016 Webinar SeriesAmazon Web Services
IT organizations are facing increasing pressure to secure corporate data, be more agile and responsive, and keep end users productive – all while saving money. Traditional on-premises VDI solutions have proved to be expensive and complex, don’t scale well, and have not helped organizations be more agile. This webinar will explain how Amazon WorkSpaces can help you support a diverse and dynamic workforce, quickly achieve global scale, and improve your overall security position by keeping sensitive data off end user devices. Come and learn how you can offer your users a desktop experience they will love while also saving money and freeing up IT resources to focus on strategic projects.
Learning Objectives: • Understand how Amazon WorkSpaces, a managed desktop computing service, helps customers be more agile • Get an overview of how Amazon WorkSpaces supports a modern workforce while improving security • Learn about how customers are using Amazon WorkSpaces today

This paper discusses assembly operations using a single manipulator and a parallel gripper to simultaneously
grasp multiple objects and hold the group of temporarily assembled objects. Multiple robots and jigs generally operate
assembly tasks by constraining the target objects mechanically or geometrically to prevent them from moving. It is
necessary to analyze the physical interaction between the objects for such constraints to achieve the tasks with a single
gripper. In this paper, we focus on assembling pipe joints as an example and discuss constraining the motion of the
objects. Our demonstration shows that a simple tool can facilitate holding multiple objects with a single gripper.
