The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] is a statutory body to promote and advance the engineering and
technology, established in 1920. The Institution of Engineers (India) was granted the Royal Charter of
Incorporation 1935 by His Majesty the King George V of England in 1935, “to promote and advance the
science, practice and business of engineering in all its branches in India”. It is the largest multi-disciplinary
professional body of engineers encompassing 15 (fifteen) engineering disciplines with a membership of
more than 820 thousand, and serving the nation for more than 9 decades. The IEI has its headquarters
located in Kolkata with national presence through more than hundred Centres and several Overseas
Chapters, Foras and Organ. he Institution of Engineers (India) is a first professional body to represent India in
several International Bodies, such as the World Mining Congress (WMC), the World Federation of
Engineering Organizations (WFEO), the Commonwealth Engineers’ Council (CEC), the Federation
International du Beton (fib), and the Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia
(FEISCA). It also has bilateral agreements with a number of professional societies across the globe. IEI holds
the International Professional Engineers (IntPE) Register for India under the global International Professional
Engineers Alliance (IntPEA). The Institution also wards the Professional Engineers (PE) Certification.

8. IEI TAMIL NADU STATE CENTRE
• It is an educational foundation that transforms a student into an expert in the industry. Institution of
Engineers (India) Based in Chepauk, Chennai and is a pride of the nation. After the formation of the
Tamilnadu State Centre in 1922, the Institute of Engineers (India) has gained momentum throughout
the nation where many wishes to become a part of it. The state centre is being administered by a
committee which is comprised of a Chairman, Honorary Secretary and Corporate Members who are
elected from total 15 engineering disciplines including Architectural Engineering, Aerospace
Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Environment Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mining Engineering, Production Engineering, Textile
Engineering, and Metallurgy and Materials Science Engineering.
• Institution of Engineers is common known as Tamilnadu State Centre and has Fifteen local centres that
functions at Madurai, Coimbatore, Neyveli, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Kalpakkam, Ranipet ,Tuticorin, Hosur,
Kanchepuram, Tiruvallur, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Thanjavur and Erode. The state centre has a total
24169 corporate members. The sole objective of this centre is to disseminate the Engineering
knowledge by conducting a number of technical activities which includes lecture meetings, workshops,
all India seminars, symposiums, national conventions and international conferences.

9. IEI TIRUVALLUR LOCAL CENTRE
• IE(India) Tiruvallur Local Centre is a new Local Centre approved by Headquarters on 10th of August
2017 is located at Anna Block -301, Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute, Maduravoyal,
Chennai-95. The Local Centre is being administered by a committee which is comprised of a Chairman,
Honorary Secretary, Joint Secretary and Corporate Members who are elected from total 15 engineering
disciplines including Architectural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering,
Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and
Communication Engineering, Environment Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering,
Mining Engineering, Production Engineering, Textile Engineering, and Metallurgy and Materials Science
Engineering.
• Tiruvallur Local Centre and has 19 Department wise Students’ Chapter and 10 Institutional
Membership all around Tiruvallur District. The Local Centre has a total 1200 corporate members. The
sole objective of this Centre is to disseminate the Engineering knowledge by conducting a number of
