Minimum Remaining Shelf Life (MRSL)
• Critical to Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, and Process Industries
› Raw materials/Ingredients and sub-assemblies must be consumed before they age beyond their shelf life
› Finished goods must arrive at a customer site with equal to or greater than the remaining shelf life
specified by the customer with respect to arrival date or ship date.
• Item-customer or sales order level
› Measured in calendar days
› MRSL Support for Multi Echelon Supply Chain
› Consideration of MRSL in Making Sourcing Decisions
› Consideration of Safety Stock in Conjunction with MRSL
› Ingredient Based MRSL
• Caution
› Must use “Constrained (Without Detailed Scheduling)”
End Item Substitution Use-up
• Demand for primary SKU isn’t on-hand, recommend substitute SKU
› Recommendation can be released from ASCP and update the sales order (ASCP
sales order release process)
• Turn off “inference”
› If Item B is a substitute for Item A, and Item C is a substitute for Item B,
configure ASCP to not “infer” that Item C is a substitute for Item A.
• Caution: Not support for 12.0.X source EBS
Consume Purchase Order – FIFO Sequence
• Allocates/pegs purchase order dates based
on FIFO
• Reduces Purchase Order change

Maximum Use-Up Substitute Components
• Use existing supply of substitute
components before using existing supply
of primary components
• Only available in Constrained Plan
(Without Detailed Scheduled) and
requires / works in conjunction with:
› MSO: Use up existing supply of primary
components before substitute
› MSO: Use Existing Supplies in Alternate
BOM/Subs.
› MSO: Postpone Use of Alternates to Latest
Possible Time
Default functionality
1. Use onhand and scheduled receipts of primary components
2. Use onhand and scheduled receipts of substitute components
3. Generate new planned orders for primary components
4. Generate new planned orders for substitute components
With Enhancement
1. Use onhand and scheduled receipts of substitute components
2. Use onhand and scheduled receipts of primary components
3. Generate new planned orders for primary components
4. Generate new planned orders for substitute components
Integration to Rapid Planning
• Rapid Planning can be leveraged to
perform simulations on top of your
ASCP plan
• Use ASCP as your daily or weekly
planning engine and use Rapid
Planning for intra-day or intra-week
simulations of changes to your
business such as changes to
demands / supplies and capacities.
New Material & Resource Plan
› Item / Product Category /Period
› Group of component orders for a supplier (e.g. For price
breaks)
› Consolidation (e.g. Container Size)
• Edits at a higher level are “proportioned” down based on
business rules to lower level planned orders which become
firmed.
• Resource Plan - Analysis of availability / requirements by
day/week/period
› In-line editing of availability and allocations down from
weekly/monthly buckets to days
• Much more user-configurability for Resource & Material
Plans (totals, page views/filters, coloring)
• Material Plan - In-line Editing with Supply / Demand Mass edits
Customized Export to Excel
• Enhanced and flexible export
› Enable pegging links in the export
› User-defined aggregation levels (categories)
› User-defined filters for export (based on attributes of an end
item, component or order)
› User-defined data (columns)
• Create/define multiple excel worksheet exports and
link to a single plan for immediate availability
› Plan Options -> reporting tab
• Excel worksheets are integrated as part of the plan
run
Note Worthy
• Release “recommendations” and quantity/ date changes for internal requisitions from the
workbench (corresponding ISO is also updated)
• Safety Lead Time
• Ability to add a custom, user-defined row and label to the Horizontal Plan
› Examples: View Projected on-hand in dollars, view supply/demand in alternate units of measure, create a custom calculation
• Supply Tolerance and Exclude Planned Orders from Tolerance Enhancement – targeted to the
process industry
› Example: Demand for 10,000 pounds but variation in the process produces 9,900……this is good enough to satisfy the demand
and there is not a need to create another production order for 100 lbs.
• Turn off “planned order creation”
› This feature is only available in the Constrained (Without Scheduling) planning mode
Note Worthy
• Distribution Planning supports the following order modifiers: Fixed Lot Mult., Min Order Qty, Max
Order Qty, and Round Order Qty.
• Forecast Explosion Enhancements
› ATO/Options – maps data into APCC
› Can Publish exploded forecast from Demantra
› Can publish planning percentages from Demantra and Explode in ASCP
• Post-Processing Lead-time for Make Items
› Allow time for quality activities, shipping preparation, long movement time to co-located warehouse / Distribution Center for
staging
› Profile Option (default No)
› Not utilized for DRP, or RP
• Critical Path Information displayed in EDD plan
› If MSO: Lead Time Control = “Do Not Violate minimum processing time”, Then Demands can be met late
› Can be viewed in the Critical Activities window as well as the Gantt chart
Technical & Integration (12.1.1 to 12.1.3.x)
Parallel Collections:
With an enterprise, a business group may wish to run its collections and planning processes completely
independently, without having to coordinate the timing of these activities across business groups and/or
regions.
• Enhancements enables independent collections/planning in a company with a single global EBS
source instance and multiple VCP planning instances.
› Parallel Collections – One Source, Multiple VCP Instances on One Shared Physical Destination Server
› Parallel Collections – One Source, Multiple VCP Instances Each on Its Own Physical Destination Server
• Note: Architecture needs to be thought through as there are several implications such as removing program
dependencies and profile option settings
• Include supplementary data via a legacy file within standard collections run
Technical & Integration (12.1.1 to 12.1.3.x)
• Production Scheduling as an input to ASCP
• Several new enhancements and integration around CMRO and EAM integration.
› Integration: E.g. Maintenance Plan / Work Orders, forecast budgets scenarios, repair bom / routings
› Returns forecast and repair planning functionality
• Enhanced exception messages, Horizontal Plan (Item & Resource)
• Several new order types; Maintenance work order, Planned Repair work order, Planned Part Demand, External
Repair Order, etc.,
• Several new Supply / Demand attributes to help plan and filter such as the name of the maintenance plan,
Operating Fleet, Part Condition, Activity Type, etc.

Premium Resource Capacity Constraints
Many companies have the need to model two levels of capacity for production resources:
› A “regular” level of capacity and a “premium” level of capacity that is more expensive to use and
should be used only when required to prevent demand lateness
• Premium resources are allocated as a percentage of regular capacity and used by the plan to
improve demand satisfaction
• Resource Plan / Workbench
› View regular and premium capacity
availability and usage
› New “ Premium Resource
Capacity is utilized ”
exception message
Note: Specific configurations needed
not typically done in the source ERP
Warehouse Capacity Constraints
• ASCP will enforce warehouse capacity, entered as total volume (quantity / units of measure),
when planning MFG/Production or DRP
› Managed at the organization / item category levels
• New Material Plan view option
› “ Show Warehouse Capacity Details ” displays available and
consumed capacity
› New “ Warehouse Capacity Exceeded ” exception message
• Note: Configure only true bottleneck
warehouses/Mfg locations with in the supply
chain
› Otherwise, may adversely impact the
intended outcome and drive lower demand
satisfaction
Note Worthy
• Supplier capacity consumption
› Consume via all purchase orders or only acknowledged POs
Technical & Integration (12.2 to 12.2.4.1)
• Integration with Primavera P6 (project planning)

Maximum Resource Utilization
Highly capital intensive industries are drive by asset utilization with high changeover costs. Such
companies need the supply chain planning process to maximize resource utilization at the
expense of building up inventory. This is also applicable to those industries that need to keep the
workforce utilized.
• Note:
› “Constrained (without detailed scheduling)”
› Day level buckets
› Pull-in Work Orders (non-firm) then Planned
Orders

  • 19. Maximum Use-Up Substitute Components • Use existing supply of substitute components before using existing supply of primary components • Only available in Constrained Plan (Without Detailed Scheduled) and requires / works in conjunction with: › MSO: Use up existing supply of primary components before substitute › MSO: Use Existing Supplies in Alternate BOM/Subs. › MSO: Postpone Use of Alternates to Latest Possible Time Default functionality 1. Use onhand and scheduled receipts of primary components 2. Use onhand and scheduled receipts of substitute components 3. Generate new planned orders for primary components 4. Generate new planned orders for substitute components With Enhancement 1. Use onhand and scheduled receipts of substitute components 2. Use onhand and scheduled receipts of primary components 3. Generate new planned orders for primary components 4. Generate new planned orders for substitute components
  • 20. Integration to Rapid Planning • Rapid Planning can be leveraged to perform simulations on top of your ASCP plan • Use ASCP as your daily or weekly planning engine and use Rapid Planning for intra-day or intra-week simulations of changes to your business such as changes to demands / supplies and capacities.
  • 21. New Material & Resource Plan › Item / Product Category /Period › Group of component orders for a supplier (e.g. For price breaks) › Consolidation (e.g. Container Size) • Edits at a higher level are “proportioned” down based on business rules to lower level planned orders which become firmed. • Resource Plan - Analysis of availability / requirements by day/week/period › In-line editing of availability and allocations down from weekly/monthly buckets to days • Much more user-configurability for Resource & Material Plans (totals, page views/filters, coloring) • Material Plan - In-line Editing with Supply / Demand Mass edits
  • 22. Customized Export to Excel • Enhanced and flexible export › Enable pegging links in the export › User-defined aggregation levels (categories) › User-defined filters for export (based on attributes of an end item, component or order) › User-defined data (columns) • Create/define multiple excel worksheet exports and link to a single plan for immediate availability › Plan Options -> reporting tab • Excel worksheets are integrated as part of the plan run
  • 23. Note Worthy • Release “recommendations” and quantity/ date changes for internal requisitions from the workbench (corresponding ISO is also updated) • Safety Lead Time • Ability to add a custom, user-defined row and label to the Horizontal Plan › Examples: View Projected on-hand in dollars, view supply/demand in alternate units of measure, create a custom calculation • Supply Tolerance and Exclude Planned Orders from Tolerance Enhancement – targeted to the process industry › Example: Demand for 10,000 pounds but variation in the process produces 9,900……this is good enough to satisfy the demand and there is not a need to create another production order for 100 lbs. • Turn off “planned order creation” › This feature is only available in the Constrained (Without Scheduling) planning mode
  • 24. Note Worthy • Distribution Planning supports the following order modifiers: Fixed Lot Mult., Min Order Qty, Max Order Qty, and Round Order Qty. • Forecast Explosion Enhancements › ATO/Options – maps data into APCC › Can Publish exploded forecast from Demantra › Can publish planning percentages from Demantra and Explode in ASCP • Post-Processing Lead-time for Make Items › Allow time for quality activities, shipping preparation, long movement time to co-located warehouse / Distribution Center for staging › Profile Option (default No) › Not utilized for DRP, or RP • Critical Path Information displayed in EDD plan › If MSO: Lead Time Control = “Do Not Violate minimum processing time”, Then Demands can be met late › Can be viewed in the Critical Activities window as well as the Gantt chart
  • 25. Technical & Integration (12.1.1 to 12.1.3.x) Parallel Collections: With an enterprise, a business group may wish to run its collections and planning processes completely independently, without having to coordinate the timing of these activities across business groups and/or regions. • Enhancements enables independent collections/planning in a company with a single global EBS source instance and multiple VCP planning instances. › Parallel Collections – One Source, Multiple VCP Instances on One Shared Physical Destination Server › Parallel Collections – One Source, Multiple VCP Instances Each on Its Own Physical Destination Server • Note: Architecture needs to be thought through as there are several implications such as removing program dependencies and profile option settings • Include supplementary data via a legacy file within standard collections run
  • 26. Technical & Integration (12.1.1 to 12.1.3.x) • Production Scheduling as an input to ASCP • Several new enhancements and integration around CMRO and EAM integration. › Integration: E.g. Maintenance Plan / Work Orders, forecast budgets scenarios, repair bom / routings › Returns forecast and repair planning functionality • Enhanced exception messages, Horizontal Plan (Item & Resource) • Several new order types; Maintenance work order, Planned Repair work order, Planned Part Demand, External Repair Order, etc., • Several new Supply / Demand attributes to help plan and filter such as the name of the maintenance plan, Operating Fleet, Part Condition, Activity Type, etc.
  • 27. Highlights From 12.2 to 12.2.4.1 ASCP RELEASE GENEALOGY Specialized by Oracle Preferred by CustomersRecognized by Industry
  • 28. Premium Resource Capacity Constraints Many companies have the need to model two levels of capacity for production resources: › A “regular” level of capacity and a “premium” level of capacity that is more expensive to use and should be used only when required to prevent demand lateness • Premium resources are allocated as a percentage of regular capacity and used by the plan to improve demand satisfaction • Resource Plan / Workbench › View regular and premium capacity availability and usage › New “ Premium Resource Capacity is utilized ” exception message Note: Specific configurations needed not typically done in the source ERP
  • 29. Warehouse Capacity Constraints • ASCP will enforce warehouse capacity, entered as total volume (quantity / units of measure), when planning MFG/Production or DRP › Managed at the organization / item category levels • New Material Plan view option › “ Show Warehouse Capacity Details ” displays available and consumed capacity › New “ Warehouse Capacity Exceeded ” exception message • Note: Configure only true bottleneck warehouses/Mfg locations with in the supply chain › Otherwise, may adversely impact the intended outcome and drive lower demand satisfaction
  • 30. Note Worthy • Supplier capacity consumption › Consume via all purchase orders or only acknowledged POs
  • 31. Technical & Integration (12.2 to 12.2.4.1) • Integration with Primavera P6 (project planning) Project Scheduled Dates (Demands) ASCP – Plan resources & materials
  • 32. JUST RELEASED (OOW) From 12.2.5 to 12.2.5.1 ASCP RELEASE GENEALOGY Specialized by Oracle Preferred by CustomersRecognized by Industry
  • 33. Maximum Resource Utilization Highly capital intensive industries are drive by asset utilization with high changeover costs. Such companies need the supply chain planning process to maximize resource utilization at the expense of building up inventory. This is also applicable to those industries that need to keep the workforce utilized. • Note: › “Constrained (without detailed scheduling)” › Day level buckets › Pull-in Work Orders (non-firm) then Planned Orders Res 1 Req Avail Res 2 Req Avail Resource Capacity Day 8 Res 1 Req Avail Res 2 Req Avail Day 7 …….. Day 0 Res 1 Req Res 2 Req Day 8 Res 1 Req Res 2 Req Day 7 …….. Day 0 Pull Forward
