This document describes the design and development of an automatic cleaning system by three students. The system uses sensors, a microcontroller, motors and other electronic components to automatically clean an area without human interaction. It follows a preset path while avoiding any obstacles detected. Calculations are shown for the time taken to clean a sample room, the distance the system can travel on a single battery charge, and discussions of ways to improve the design to reduce costs and enhance performance.
A new service robot designed for cleaning tasks in home environments is introduced. System has three subsystems: electrical, software and mechanical of which micro controller, sensors (opponent and light) and motor are the electrical and mechanical subsystems respectively and the software subsystem is the brain of the robot. The cleaning robot uses a micro controller to detect obstacles and manipulates its direction as per the inputs. It is programmed to accept inputs to sense obstacles around it and control the robot to avoid any collisions. In case of an obstacle, or a potential collision, the micro controller controls the wheels of the robot by a motor driver to avoid collision. The vacuum cleaner at the bottom of the robot performs the cleaning process.

Design and implementation of robot control system for multistory buildingsTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
The advancement of technology, make robots have more attention from researchers to make life of mankind comfortable. This paper deals with the design of an itemized control system prepared for window cleaning/maintenance of towers and multistory buildings which can be aided to simulating human activities. These activities (washing, coating, wiping, climbing, and maintenance events) normally achieved by specialized personal. The designed control system was prepared to guide the units of the required job to move freely along the outside surface of a window with a fairly enough area and mediate time for achieving the desired goal. The system design is implemented using Arduino kit, due to facilities in program and control of cleaning windows through infer the stepper motor movement and rotation. The controller has been achieved as real time system (30 msec.), it is done throw control of three stepper motor by taken in consideration the speed of the motors (π/3000 rad/sec) and the time can be adjustable within the cleaning area that the device covering it.
An automatic whiteboard cleaner is a device that is generally used to clean the board automatically with the help of a mechanically driven duster. By the use of this automatic whiteboard cleaner, we can save time and energy. It is a new technology that is generally used now a day. The principal object of the present automatic whiteboard cleaner is to provide an attachment for the whiteboard in the form of a power-driven erasing apparatus which can be set in operation by the throw of a switch, thus eliminating the drudgery of manually cleaning the whiteboard. The utility model relates to teaching aid. The prior whiteboard has no automatic cleaning function, a teacher wastes time in writing and erasing, and the use is not ideal. The method of cleaning the board manually also decreases the interaction time between the teachers and students. A teacher spends about one minute on average to clean the board fully. But here our proposed structure is simple; more economical; the use is convenient, clean, and sanitary; and the effect of saving time is good.
Design and testing of automobile exhaust systemeSAT Journals
Abstract The aim of this paper is to provide deeper understanding of the dynamics of automobile exhaust system to provide a basis for the improved design & development of computationally inexpensive theoretical system model. Modeling, simulation & experimental investigation of a typical exhaust system are performed to gain such an understanding & to evaluate modeling ideas. These models incorporate adjustable flexibility in their connection to the exhaust pipes & a procedure is developed for automatic updating of these parameters to obtain better correlation with experimental results. The agreement between the simulation results of the updated models & experimental results is very good, which confirms the usability of these models. The main objective of this project is to design exhaust system and to compare its performance with an existing system available. The newly designed exhaust system shows lower back pressure which ultimately results better performance of the engine. Low vibration levels are critical to achievee in automobile exhaust system . It is therefore important design engineers to be able to predict, explain & assess the dynamics of various system design proposals during product development. In this modern era automation helps us to save time, cost as well as manpower. Vehicles are used extensively for transportation. To clean these vehicles there is a need of a proper washing system. The most common problems often encountered while cleaning these vehicles are consumption of water, manpower and time. The easy and effective systems for maintaining the vehicles cleanliness become high demand. Therefore, this paper focuses on car washing system using ARDUINO. The exterior of the car will be washed by detecting the car on conveyor belt and the processes are controlled by ARDUINO. The sensors are placed on conveyor belt at different places for car detection, washing, cleaning and drying. This system can be applied in car manufacturing companies after final assembly of car, service stations, car replacing and maintaining stations, and car body building industry. In our contemporary world of science & technology, most of us are
going for automation. Robotics covers a large area in the automated
world and robotic arm has become popular in the world of robotics.
Robotic arm can do such operations which are difficult & dangerous
for human (e.g. removing mines, mining operations and so on). Even
robotic arm is doing critical surgery of brain. In our project of robotic
arm, our main intention was to control it by the microcontroller. By
doing this we miniaturized the control section of the robotic arm.
Performance Analysis of Multi-Body Modeled Washing Machines (MBomWM)Dr. Amarjeet Singh
One of the key features of an automated washing machine is the noise and vibration it produces, or more technically, the decibel level it produces. Numerous of home appliance companies have put in much effort to solve this problem but there is still large room for further improvements especially in the rinse and the spin cycles of a washing machine. This work illustrates the performances of multi-body modelled of washing machines realized with the aim to analyze the vibrational acoustic emission. An experimental measurement has been carried out using a digital sound level meter (SLM) to determine the overall noise produced by four different modelled of automated washing machines with a view of noting the model with the highest sound pressure level during the three different cycles (the wash, rinse and spin). Results show that all the machines produced their highest noise during the spinning cycle. Out of the four different models considered, IPSO HF: 304 has the highest sound level of 99.62dB during its spin cycle when a maximum load of 30Kg was applied, followed by Imesa RC 23 with a 96.13dB. On the other hands, LG: Direct Drive 13 has the least sound pressure level of 84.75 dB. With this knowledge in mind, one can advise a buyer of which model to purchase from the market and if an operator must use the machine, how long he can operate such machine without health challenges.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF AUTOMATIC
CLEANING SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
A simple automatic system that uses some prefixed algorithms and
programs to clean the specified area is called an Automatic
cleaning system.
Reduces Human interaction
Easy operation and activation.
6. WORKING METHODOLOGY
Automatic Cleaning Robot starts by switching on the device, the robots move forward by checking
for obstacles and avoids them if any and if any obstacle is there in its path it deviates from that and
cleans the entire space.
7. Follows set path.
Path change on obstacle detection.
Follows Simple snake pattern
L293D Motor Driver controls major functions.
9. CALCULATIONS
Design details of robot of Aluminum Composite Panel(ACP) & Fiber-Reinforced Plastic
sheets(FRP) and the components used:
10. Time Required to Clean an Empty Room:-
Length of room (Assumption) = 4.8 m (L) • Breadth of room (Assumption) = 4.5 m (B)
Speed of Robot:-
• Number of drive motors = 2 • Radius of drive wheel (R) = 0.056 m
• RPM of each drive motor (N) = 60 RPM • Width of the robot (W) = 0.33 m
• Speed (V) = R*ω • ω = (2*π*N)/60
• ω = 6.28318 ≈ 6.28 radians/second • V = 0.35 m/s
Assume efficiency of power delivered to motor = 90%
Speed of Robot (Vr) = V*0.9 = 0.315 m/s
Time taken by the robot to cover the room length once (t) = L / Vr = 4.8/0.315 = 15.238
seconds.
Number of passes required for robot to cover the entire room = Breadth of the room (B) /
Width of the robot (W) = 4.5/0.33 = 13.63 passes ≈ 14 passes
11. Total time taken by the robot to cover the entire room = 14*15.238 = 213.332 seconds ≈ 3.56
minutes ≈ 3 minutes 34 seconds (Max).
Distance that can be cleaned:-
Maximum load condition on motors, current drawn by each motor = 1000 mA = 1A.
Discharge rate of the battery = Discharge rate of lead acid battery at 1-hour rate = 0.78 Ah.
As the motor draws 1A current according to our consideration, total time required for the
battery to get completely discharged = 46.8 minutes.
Since lead acid battery shouldn’t run past 80% of its charge, leaving 20% left, time taken to
discharge 80% of initial charge = 46.8*0.8 = 37.44 minutes.
Since number of motors = number of batteries = 2 and assuming each motor draws equal
current of 1A from different batteries.
Total runtime of robot = 37 minutes 26 seconds = 2246 seconds.
Distance covered by robot = Velocity of robot(Vr) x Total runtime of robot = 0.315*2246 =
707.5 m.
12. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Torque required for the robot to move was estimated
The shape and size of the robot were determined
Replaced IR sensors
Replaced non-contact sensor with bumper switches
Robot covered 90% to 92% of the area.
In Auto mode, it took 10 to 15 minutes to clean room.
The robot runs for a total time of 35 minutes on full charge.
13. CONCLUSION AND FUTURE SCOPE
Reduce the cost
More compatible
Enhance the navigation performance
Optical encoders
Cleaner brushes
Lithium polymer batteries
