Australia has diverse landscapes including deserts, rainforests, coastlines, the Great Barrier Reef, lakes, alps, cities and towns, and important buildings. Seventy percent of Australia is desert with little rain. The rainforests have dense plants and trees and are opposite to the deserts. Australia's longest coastline is over 36,000 km long with mangroves and crocodiles. The Great Barrier Reef stretches over 1,900 km along Queensland's coast and took millions of years to form. Australia has snow-capped alps and people live in varied housing from traditional dwellings to hotels carved out of the earth.
