Theoretical Foundations of AR
 The level of the learning is dependent upon the quality of the
social interaction within the learning context (Bandura, 1977;
Vygotsky, 1978)
Spector, J. M. et al. (eds.). (2014) Handbook of Research on
Educational Communications and Technology. Springer Science +
Business Media,New York
 Situated Learning Theory posits that all learning takes place within
a specific context and the QUALITY of the learning is a result of
the INTERACTIONS among people, places, objects,
processes, and culture (Brown, Collins, & Duguid, 1989)

What does the Latest
research say?
• AR is a “Visualization Technology”
• AR is an “Emerging technology
• “Enhanced Reality” and not a “Virtual Reality”

Big Takeaways
 The focus is and should always be the LEARNING
and NOT the eye-candy quotient.
 AR can and does enhance learning.
 AR is not expensive.
 AR does NOT have a steep learning curve for
adoption
of this emerging technology.

What if the “one size fits all” digital learning courses could be tailored to an individual?
