5. All 3 of these films are targeted at mainly teenagers and young
adults. IT and Krampus more so than Carrie which could be
considered having a storyline that is more appealing to young adults
and less so to teenagers. The age group for IT and Krampus could be
considered between 12-25 year olds mainly.
IT and Krampus have a good target audience as they use themes
that are appealing to the age group, such as how IT has teenage main
characters, and Krampus is set at Christmas which is considered a
festive time of year and is more appealing to younger ages than it is
too older.
6. Horror films are generally popular because the film offers something that gives the
audience a thrill from what there watching that they might not be able to get in real life.
They offer scenarios that don’t happen or are very unlikely, they create a world that
people can experience and watch. People get excitement of jump scares and allows them
to get a thrill from it.
7. Our audience will be targeted at the teen and young adult age groups. The film will not be
targeted towards one gender, but will be targeted at the age group and people that are
interested in horror based films that involve characters that are around their own ages.
The general age demographic for horror based films is generally 18-27, however the ages
are generally between 16-30 and the horror genre can be favourable for males over
females.
A reason that this is the age group for horrors is because horror has become increasingly
popular in the late 20th and now the 21st century due to animation and special effects
being much better than it was for the older generation. Furthermore, the majority of films
are now watched around this age group especially in the horror genre.
