These questions were posted on survey monkey and published via facebook
this is a quicker way to gather information rather than printing copies and
asking people to fill them out this is also anonymous so people can tell the
truth and it holds choice so people don’t have to answer particular
questions... These screen shots show what I did
Results
After I posted the questionnaires on facebook I left it for a week for people to
fill in, it’s completely anonymous, safe and much quicker to gather information
then handing out questionnaires.
Results show that peoples favourite magazine is ‘karrang’ closely followed by
‘Q’ both rock magazines so I am creating a rock magazine which was my first
intension to create. My second question is if that magazine is aimed at their
gender all my participants were females and the results were very close my
intention was to prove that rock magazine show more masculinity aimed at
males more so my magazine is going to be a rock magazine aimed at females.
This question is asking about the favourite bands, this question was added
intending what bands that the readers would like to read about and even what
band(s) I may add on my magazine, bands are important on/in a magazine as it
catches the reader’s eye.
These next questions are asking about fashion as in my results it shows a huge
amount of people liking fashionable clothes and another question asking what
type of clothes they like to wear, with this question I can imagine what the
typical reader looks like and would want for example competitions to win a
state of the art leather jacket. The most popular answer was jeans and T-shirts
which can reflect on the reader’s personality.
This is my most important question as this is my question which would give
me more information on the readers personality, age etc, for example if they
like to drink WKD it’s cheap more of a clubbing drink younger people more
likely to club on the other hand someone drinking champagne who would be
more sophisticated, not liking rock music or even not reading magazines etc. In
the results it shows that the majority of people like to drink WKD, vodka with
fruity drink, beer or other clubby drinks this reflects their personality and their
position the majority of people are students or young people so they are more
likely to go out clubbing.
These results show people like to get free items especially cds and posters.
These results are the beginning of creating a base idea of my music magazine
now I know what the future readers like I can produce my own music magazine
which would be successful and popular.
Reader Profile
This is an example of an NME reader profile and reflects their age and
personalities are like for example just by looking at these images I can tell the
average reader like drink, cars, technology, fashionable clothes, family, gaming
etc and with the age I can tell that their older teenagers (18+) as they have to be
that age to play some games and to drink. Inspired by this reader profile I
created my own reader profile brain storming possible aspects and using my
results from my questionnaire.
Research consisted of more girls then boys which was my goal as I want to aim
the magazine at girls as my base idea. It is to create a rock magazine aimed at
girls as the majority of rock magazines are very masculine. I have found lots of
good research which can create a unique and interesting music magazine which
would be popular.
In my results I have
found that they like free
music t-shirts, stickers
and posters with their
magazines or a chance to
win competitions.
I have found that
81.8% of people like
WKD. And other
people prefer beer and
vodka mixed.
I have found that
81.8% people
prefer rock/metal
music to any other
genre of music.
I have found that
72.7% people like
to wear
fashionable
clothes.
Technology is
very popular
in magazines.
