3. …..continued Why was this sample chosen? This age group was chosen to fill out the feedback forms as they were within the target audience. Linking back to my prior research, I analysed how 14-30 year olds. Therefore, the average age lies just below the average target audience. By researching how the target audience rated the video, I would then (of course theoretically) be able to decide whether to distribute my product. If I was to conduct this feedback again, I would ask age groups represented both higher and lower on the target audience scale. Thus, allowing myself more accurate feedback.

As we can see, the group that scored the final production the highest were located (by no surprise) in the rock/alternative group While the rap/dub step group rated the video the lowest.

As you can see, it is fairly spread out as to what people’s favourite aspects were, with the most being the use of editing. Through this research, I am able to see where I am excelled in so if I was to produce another piece of similar work, I’d be able to learn from this.

10. …..continued Through this question I have been able to see if my plan to create a coherent narrative running along side my band shots, and therefore, following a convention of real music productions, has worked or not. From the information gathered, the majority of people have commented saying ‘yes’ there was a narrative, while others have gone as far to correctly guessing this storyline. Therefore, I can conclude that I have followed this convention, creating a sufficiently narrative.

13. ….continued I however, feel the location of the narrative were set in a very sufficient environment. I feel the answers received may be due to the fact it is an extremely common place in our city, and therefore taking away the authenticity from an audience. As for the ‘grey shots’, I took this structured criticism and re-edited my shots for a better appearance. Here, I am able to analyse what aspects of the production were disliked and therefore, could be improved upon. Thankfully, the majority of people did not dislike anything, however a few mentioned upon the dislike of the location. Others commented on how certain shots were too grey (where I had edited the scene for the appearance of a flash back) The pie chart below presents the data gathered .

15. In conclusion From my audience feedback, I received generally positive views and opinions. Many commented on the effectiveness of the band shots, paying special attention to the timing of the lip syncing and the lighting sequence. This was perhaps, the positive feedback I was most thankful for as the band shots were my downfall on the previous take and therefore the area I put most of my attention on. A negative aspect brought up in a number of the forms was how one of the flashbacks was too dark and de-saturated, while others commented on how the narrative shots were set in a poor location. Unfortunately, I won’t have time to re-shoot the narrative shots, however, I feel they are set in a very good environment and perceive the comments may be a result from people recognising the place as it is very common in our city. As for the flashback scene, I have re-edited these shots using the effect ‘colour correction’. This is an example of why audience feedback is so important. By receiving structured criticism before a products release, minor changes can be made to improve the final production.
