1. Audience Feedback We showed our trailerto an audience in order to get their feedback on it, so as to help us know what we needed to change and what had worked well.
2. 1 “The tag line should be included in the trailer because it emphasises the title of the film” We took this on board by deleting our initial title screens of our actors names and replacing it by adding in slides with our tagline on it. The reason why we decided to listen to this piece of audience feedback is because it made sense that we use our tagline in the trailer, as we also felt that it was a really effective one and that we would use the story of our horror, rather than the actors in it to sell our film. Also, we thought that this tagline would raise questions for the audience as to how Willow will get her revenge on Steve and Helen.
3. 2 “In order to make the trailer look more realistic, you should include institutional context” Because we showed our audience our trailer halfway through the editing process, we had not yet got round to adding in the institutional context, but it was something that we were going to add anyway. We also made an animated logo for our institution which we feel looks really effective and realistic.
4. 3 “The shots were perhaps slightly too slow for a teaser trailer” This was definitely a comment that we needed to do something about. Initially, we were worried that by cutting down our shots too much, it would miss out the point that we were trying to get across. However, by cutting them even more, it made the whole trailer have a completely different feel to it and it definitely looked far more effective. The fast pace also added to the mystery of the trailer and the mood of a horror film as the audience is not meant to quite know exactly what is going on.
5. Comments On Our Feedback I think that our feedback definitely made us step back and take a look at our trailer from an outsider’s point of view. When it is you making a trailer, you tend to forget how others who have not seen it before will look at it. The feedback I chose to include was the constructive criticism that we were given, but we also got many compliments for our trailer including: “I love the shots of Willow rocking with blood on her, it really makes you wonder what has happened” and, “The fact that you can hear the footsteps of the person running adds to the atmosphere and the mood of the trailer” I feel very confident that we appropriately addressed our audience feedback and edited our trailer accordingly.
