City of Portland
Resolution: On June 17, 2015, the city council adopted
Resolution No. 37130: “Adopt the goal of Vision Zero—that
no loss of life is acceptable on our city streets.”
Vision Zero Task Force: On August 17, 2015, Mayor
Charlie Hales kicked off a Task Force to provide direction
on the Vision Zero Action Plan, including developing the
vision, goals, policies, actions, performance measures, and recommendations to get to zero traffic fatalities
and serious injuries. An Executive Committee and Technical Advisory Committee were also formed. The
community-wide effort includes Portland’s Police and Fire Bureaus, regional and state government and
partners in emergency response, public health, and community organizations. It requires a strategic planning
effort to build community consensus and regional political support and buy-in.

City of Eugene
Resolution:OnNovember18,2015,thecitycounciladopted
Resolution No. 5132: “A resolution setting as official policy
the Vision Zero goal that no loss of life or serious injury on
our transportation system is acceptable.” The resolution
directs the city manager to initiate the formation of a Vision
Zero Task Force that includes community stakeholders and
staff to develop a Vision Zero Action Plan.

Clackamas County
Transportation Safety Action Plan: Clackamas County was the first—and only—
Oregon county to adopt a TSAP. The effort is recognized by the National Association
of Counties for “its exceptional results and unique innovations.” The plan outlines a
strategy to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes by 50% over a decade by focusing
on the three leading factors in the county’s crash trends: aggressive driving, drivers
ages 15–25, and crashes involving vehicles leaving the roadway.

2. Lane County / Central Lane MPO
Lane Regional Transportation Safety and Security Plan:
The LRTSSP will provide Lane County and the Central
Lane MPO an opportunity to collect data; analyze and
understand multi-modal safety conditions throughout the
region; develop recommended countermeasures to reduce
fatal and serious injury crashes; and establish performance
measures through which the region can monitor implementation. A data-driven planning process will rely on
input from a diverse group of stakeholders from multiple disciplines including law enforcement, engineering,
education and marketing, advocacy, emergency medical service, transportation planning, and public health.
