This week's topic is Conditional Logic. The exercises presented will help you to understand and applyconditional operators to the development of solutions and algorithms.
Islandora is a digital asset management system that provides out-of-the-box repository solutions (Solution Packs) for a wide range of digital collections and research domains. Islandora combines the Drupal CMS and Fedora Commons repository software, together with additional open source applications (including Solr), to deliver a wide range of functionality. The proposed workshop will provide users with information about the Islandora software framework, and allow users to test drive a full Islandora installation using local virtual machines or the online Islandora sandbox.

This is the presentation that accompanies the Chair's Report for the Annual General Meeting of the Lake & Shore Community Recreation Society. The report highlights the performance of the association in managing the local community centre, presents the key personnel in the effort, and illustrates the organization of work to support the mission "Building a healthy, happy community through recreational, cultural, sport and social activities."
In this session we look at IPO as a programmatic problem-solving approach, use anIPO chart tool, and introduce Ruby - you'll even develop your first program in Ruby!
In this third class we will continue our exploration of positional number systems, switching gears to examine binary and hexadecimal systems. We will also examine a problem-solving approach that is used by programmers - the IPO method.
In this class we will examine the decimal number system, operations and notation. We will also examone math operations on positional number systems and begin to explore dimensional (unit) analysis and calculations.
This presentation was put together by Sharen MacPherson as part of our team project/portfolio scavenger and is a great example of how portfolio can extend beyond the individual to the community itself. In this case the community is Truro Nova Scotia, and this slice of their portfolio shows the amazing work done to turn a tragedy into a triumph. The beautiful Elm tress of Truro were being destroyed by the Dutch Elm Disease and rather than simply levelling them all, some we chosen to be carved into historical and cultural icons in the comomunity. Enjoy!
