2. We first began by adding in the background
image of barbed wire and used a drop
shadow effect to make it look darker and
creepier. We chose barbed wire as it had a
strong link with the name of our production
company ‘ASYLUM PRODUCTIONS’. This is
through the idea that people in asylums are
trapped and wires such as this are used to
prevent escape. This is again shown through
the shape of the wire which has no ending.
3. Next we added in the selected fonts on a
layer above the barbed wire. After doing this
we used different effects on the fonts such
as bevel and emboss and a colour overlay. We
did this so that the fonts looked better and
stood out more against the background. We
want it to stand out because it is the most
important part of the logo and introduces our
company.
4. After we had added in the fonts we decided that changing the colour with a
colour overlay would make the word ‘ASYLUM’ pop more. To make the name
even bolder we added an outer glow. This worked well with the barbed wire as
it looks like mist which is an element repeatedly used in horror films throughout
the years.
5. We then decided that the red used was too bright so to dull it down we chose a
slightly darker tone. We still decided to stick with the colour red however as it
has powerful connotations e.g blood, danger, anger or rage.
6. Finally we added the satin and
stroke effects to make the writing
look more shaded and creepy.
Along with doing this is also gave
our logo a more polished
professional look. After hearing
feedback that the word
productions was hard to see we
also gave it a red overlay. This not
only made it standout more but
also make it tie in more with the
word ‘ASYLUM’ which was places
above it.
9. To begin the animation process
we put the fully constructed
logo onto premiere and began
to play around with it to see
what would look good.
10. At this step we began to make the image
move. We changed the swivel and tilt and
inserted keyframes.
11. After more keyframes had been added of more angles we then turned
our focus onto lighting. To do this we went onto the lighting effects
option and boosted the light intensity to 100 and adding the lens flare
effect.
12. These three frames
show some of the
different keyframes
we made with the
lighting effects
allowing the light to
completely cross the
logo.
13. By changing the lens
type it allowed us to
change the colour of the
lighting. We decided to
have a cleaner white
light as it had a cleaner
look with a better
contrast and looked a
lot more professional
than the redish lighting.
