2. This is a shot showing the killer between the curtains. It is meant to appear
as a point of view shot of Alex looking out on the killer making it seem as if
she is surrounded by him on all angles. This shot was hard to take as there
was little amounts of light so the camera would not focus properly on the
killer outside. We however found that when we filmed it did not look as
blurry and was usable footage.
3. Here is a shot of Holly looking small and cowering in a cupboard. The use of the
high angle shot makes her look small and vulnerable which goes well with the
shot as she is hiding from a killer in the closet. This shot was helpful as we used
it as a shot in the final trailer.
4. Here are again two shots that we took however we used neither in the actual
trailer as we decided that a point of view shot was better suited and more
effective in the trailer. The differences in lighting showed the blood in
different lights. The harsher brighter light displayed in the left picture makes
the blood appear bright red and fake while that on the right looks as if the
blood is real and she is really getting her neck sliced open.
5. Here are two shots that we took in the same location but changed the
lighting for. As we wanted to room to be darker to meet more conventions of
horror, we also needed enough light so that the camera could catch the clip
without it being too blurred and out of focus. To do this we experimented
with unnatural lighting using the torch light in the left picture and the
bedroom light on the second. We however decided that the picture on the
right despite being clearer, made the house look too light and happy and as
we were creating a horror film this didn't meet conventions.
