2. The practice of law is
changing at unprecedented
levels…from blockchain to
robots, the “how” of legal
process will change Nevada
and the rest of the law
landscape forever. There
are simply more
possibilities than ever when
it comes to improving the
practice of law.
The Concept
How innovations occur,
when they are adopted, and
where they are applied, will
determine how they help
Nevada companies,
consumers and residents.
This tournament unites top
in-house practitioners and
several leading law firm
representatives in an
innovation tournament to
identify and conceptualize
key innovations to improve
the practice.
While these are likely to be
technological in nature,
they can be process-
oriented as well.
The activity is more than friendly competition. It’s a high-energy think tank
generating positive energy toward change. The “winning,” team will receive
follow-up consulting on implementation of their innovation.
3. Ideally the tournament
will host about 50
players or more, with a
law firm represented
on each team. Team
sizes can range from
six to 10.
The Venue
Venue should be large
enough to host this
number in either a
table round or long-
table setting, with each
team seated at their
own table.
A hotel or university or
a corporate campus
would be ideal, as law
firm conference rooms
tend to be set up
around one large table.
4. THE
PROCESS
After a brief introduction to get the crowd fired up, including a
discussion of innovation trends in law, the innovation, design and agile
processes, and the day’s competition, the teams will be divided by the
facilitators into fairly even groups, with a law firm representative at each
table. The teams will be given five minutes to get acquainted.
6 minutes. Everyone, silently and independently, writes or draws a problem they
most like to see solved today through innovation.
6 minutes. Each individual uses a sticky note to vote for the problem they want to solve at their table.
6 minutes. Each individual silently writes or draws a solution to the ’table’s winning problem.
15 minutes. Each individual discusses their solution with the team and collaboration begins to draw a story board with the
problem and the solution.
20 minutes. Each team presents its problem/innovation solution
As lunch is served , each individual votes with sticky notes for the winning innovation (no voting for your own innovation)
Winner is announced, prizes awarded, wrap up.
5. Upon conclusion of the
tournament, Winners
will be announced and
media will be sought to
highlight the
tournament and the
ideas generated.

follow-on discussions
