ESEB 2033/2034 MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP IN EDUCATION
OCTOBER 2018 Semester
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT: WHAT DO TEACHERS BRING TO LEADERSHIP? (25%)
Teacher leadership means different things to different people. Teacher leadership is in high demand in
school districts and institutions across the nation. Teacher leadership is the process by which teachers
work collaboratively with other faculty, staff, and community members to improve teaching practices that
enrich the learning environment and lead to higher achieving classrooms. Whether these roles are
assigned formally or shared informally, they build the entire school's capacity to improve. Most of us hold
the deep-seated assumption that leaders must have appointments and titles that formalize their
leadership and officially confirm their knowledge, traits, and competencies. Let’s find out more!
Assignment guidelines:
1) Prepare a set of interview questions yourself based on the leadership qualities given.
The interview questions should be based on the leadership qualities as follow: initiative,
positivity, responsibility, social skills, creativity, flexibility, motivation, accountability,

2) Look for a teacher or principal to interview, or anyone who has been in the education
field, presently or in the past.
