This document discusses font and text design options for the opening credits of a horror film. It considers several horror-themed fonts found on Dafont.com and in Final Cut Pro. It analyzes the font and text placement in the opening credits for the film "The Conjuring" as an example. It proposes using a white or red font color against a dark background for high visibility and to fit the horror genre. It also suggests moving the credits around the frame and in corners rather than a single location to keep the audience engaged.

2. What fonts we could use
 We did research on final cut pro and on Dafont.com to see which fonts we
could use for or opening sequence, and this is what we found:
 Copperplate
 Trajan Pro
 Bloodlust
 Horroroid
 JMH Horror
 X Horror X
 Easy horror

4. The Conjuring
The “directed by” is smaller than the
name, this is because the name is
much more important and
meaningful. Therefore, they made
the name bigger so that the
audience can see it more clearly and
quickly.
The size of the font is quite small
in comparison to the rest of the
picture, this is because they want
the audience to be able to see the
image clearly, and not have the
text ruin your sight of the image.
They used a off white colour for the
text, this is because its contrasts very
well with the dark background which
makes it so that the audience can see
it clearly. In addition, they used an off
white colour so that it fits in with the
horror sequence as a off white colour
is very uncomfortable and makes the
audience feel uneasy.
The framing of the text is interesting to
note, the fact that they put the text
right in the middle of the frame, means
that the audience will see it clearly,
also, it makes it so that you can see
the rest of the image in the frame as
well.

5. WHAT COLOUR WILL WE USE
 Our first instinct is to use the colour white, white looks very professional, and
contrast well with the dark theme of our horror genre, this creates a good
juxtaposition between the two themes, in addition, the colour white can be seen
very clearly, therefore there will be no problem for the audience to read the text as
they will be able to see it clearly.
 Our second thought was that we should use the colour red, this is because red
symbolises many different things, such as, red connotes danger, blood, death, many
sinister symbols, which is why we may want to use the colour red as it fits well with
the theme of our genre being horror.
 Any other colour we thought would look very tacky and childish, which wouldn't fit
in with the genre of our opening sequence, in addition other colours would be hard
to be visible with the background as we will mainly be having a colour background
for realism.

6. Where will we place the credits
 We will place the credits in many places within the frame this is because
we want the audience to keep moving their eyes around the frame and
look at other things, if we didn’t do this, they would get very bored and
uninterested, therefore, we will keep changing the place of the text.
 We will mainly place the text in corners and in the middle of the frame,
also, we will make sure that the text doesn’t block anything important in
the frame, such as characters, we want to do this because then you can still
see more of the frame and image behind the text, meaning that the text
wont overpower the image that is happening, and the audience will keep
looking at the image and the text.
