Assessment will be carried out based on five different models. Model 1 involves individual assessment through teacher questions and scoring. Model 2 involves student retelling of a story to peers. Model 3 involves assessment of a student by a peer assigned questions. Model 4 involves group work with individual scoring. Model 5 involves group work and discussion in groups of three or four with individual scoring based on ideas and creativity. The document also provides guidelines for score moderation between assessors.
1. ASSESSMENT BASED ON MODEL 1 – 5
Assessment will be carried out based on the model chosen.
MODEL 1 (individual)
1 Teacher will ask questions based on stimulus (word cards, pictures etc)
2 Pupils will answer the questions.
3 Teacher awards score according to the 4 constructs.
MODEL 2 (pupil – listeners)
1 Teacher asks pupil to retell story to their friends.
2 Pupils share information about the story.
3 Teacher awards score based on the pupils’ ability in using the language.
MODEL 3 ( pupil – peer )
1 Pupils may choose their own peer or teacher appoints the peer.
2 Teacher gives a list of questions to the peer.
3 Teacher awards score to the pupil only.
MODEL 4 ( GROUP-pair)
1 Each pupil will participate in giving ideas to the stimulus.
2 Score will be awarded individually based on the ideas they performed.
MODEL 5 (GROUP – In three’s or four’s)
1 The pupils will participate in giving ideas or opinion.
2 Pupils communicate among themselves in group.
3 Score will be awarded individually based on their ideas and creativity.
2. SCORE MODERATION
1 If the score difference between the assessor and KPN , KPKw and
PKw is more than two (2), assessment should be carried out again as
to find the validity of the score.
2 If the score difference is only one (1), the higher score is considered
the final.
3 If the pupils could not utter a word after several guidance during
assessment, a ‘D’ is awarded.
4 Do not award a ‘D’ for ethics and mannerism unless impoliteness is
obvious.
