The Aspirational Districts Programme was launched in 2018 to reduce inequality in living standards across districts in India quickly and effectively. 112 underdeveloped districts were selected based on health, education, and infrastructure indicators to focus on areas like health, education, agriculture, financial inclusion, and basic infrastructure through convergence of central and state schemes. District collectors work with central and state officers to formulate and implement district plans through competition and measuring progress to help districts develop from the best in their state to the best in the nation.
