product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media
products? (i.e. of music magazines)?

4. Front Cover:Front Cover:
My magazine follows the conventions of a music magazine as I have used conventions such as a masthead,
strapline, puff and pull quote.These conventions fall throughout the magazine in which is like a real music
magazine. For my front cover I have used a masthead in order for the audience to know the what the
magazine is called.This enables the audience to see the genre of the music magazine. I have also used by-
lines so that the audience will know what will be inside the magazine and if there are any competitions.
These by-lines presents various topics and with page numbers, you can see where you can find the page in
the magazine.The puff is used to show that with the magazine comes a free gift of a CD.This is so the value
of the magazine is increased, therefore, making it acceptable for the price to be slightly higher. I followed
the conventions as I have included a strapline on the front cover to show the audience that there are
various other Indie Rock artists contained within the magazine.This is so that the audience can read the
magazine even if they do not like the main artist.

6. Contents PageContents Page
I have used 50% of images and 50% of text on my contents page.This follows the conventions as it gives
an equal ratio of text: images.This then gives an even amount not taking the focus away from each other.
Also for the contents page I have followed the conventions by including page numbers and text.The page
numbers help the audience to navigate their way toward the page in which they are looking for. I have
used the text to announce what is included within the magazine.This gives an idea of whether the
audience is going to want to read what's inside or not. At the bottom of the contents page, I included the
magazine title.This is so that the audience can always look to see the title. I have inserted a section onto
the contents page so that the audience can find further information about the magazine and the artists
through social media.This encourages them to purchase the magazine and publicise it by looking at its
social media sites.

8. Double Page SpreadDouble Page Spread
For my double page spread, I have used a pull quote.This makes the page more interesting and will get the
audience to read the article. It is above the article, over the image so that it is easy to see and links it to the
artist used in the image. I have included a main image to show the main artist of the magazine known as
'Davis'. Using the same artist as in the front cover shows that they are the most important part of the
magazine.This is why this specific magazine is a special edition. I also followed the conventions by
including text in which shows the interview with the artist.This interview is eye-catching and will get the
audience to read about the artist so they can understand how life changes in big situations such as
changing your lifestyle to follow your dreams.

9. ChallengesChallenges
On the other hand, I have challenged the conventions as I have placed the page numbers at the bottom of
the page.This is instead of the page number at the top of the page in which most magazines have.This
makes my magazine more unique to its genre of music. I also placed a puff at the bottom of the front
cover as opposed to the puff being at the top of the page.This shows that my magazine is professional,
however, I want it to stand out amongst other magazines.This is so that it engages with the audience and
they will want to read the music magazine.
