4. TAWANG TOWN
The birth place of Dalai Lama.
It is the eight least population districts in the country.
Tawang was historically part of Tibet inhabited by the
Monpa people.

6. SELA PASS
The Sela pass is a high-altitude mountain pass
located on the border between the Tawang and
west Kameng districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
Sela Pass does get heavy snowfall in winter, it is
usually open throughout the year unless landslides
or snow require the pass to be shut down
temporarily.

7. TAWANG MONASTRY
It is also known as “Galden Namgyal Lhaste”.
It is the largest monastery in India and second largest in the world after the
Potala Palace in Tibet.
Founded: Mera Lama Lodre Gyasto in 17th century.
The highlights of this monastery are the imposing three-storied assembly hall
and the 28ft high golden statue of Lord Buddha.
The famous Buddhist fold inscribed scriptures Kangur and Tangyur are
preserved here.

8. PARSHURAM KUND
It is situated within the Kamlang
Reserve Forest Area.
An annual event of the temple is known
as Parshuram Mela. Held in January
every year, the mela draws devotees
from various corners of the
country/abroad to take a holy dip in the
river.

9. NAMDAPHA NATIONAL PARK
It is the third largest national park in India in
terms of area.

1972.
It was declared a tiger reserve and national
park in 1983.

have four big cat species, like leopard, tiger,

10. BHALUKPONG
Is it a border between two sisters state
between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
The place is famous for archaeological ruins
of King Bhaluka who was the grandfather of
King Bana of Mahabharata fame and an
ancient ruler of the region.

11. ITA FORT
The name literally means “Fort of
Bricks”.
It was built as early as the 14th or the 15th
Century.
The fort has three different entrances at

the southern sides.
The fort is built of bricks as well as
stone. The bricks are of variety of sizes,
including the ornamental bricks.

12. ITANAGAR WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
The musk deer, red panda and porcupines
are amongst the most commonly found
animals.
Some of the rare species which include
antelopes, mitttan, serow and goral are
also house in the reserve.
Earlier the sanctuary was known as the
Itanagar Reserve Forest and later renamed
as Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary.
This sanctuary can be accessed through
all the means of transportation.
13. PAKKE TIGER RESERVE
It is also known as Pakhui Tiger Reserve, is a
Project Tiger Reserve in the East Kameng
district of Arunachal Pradesh.
It is protected by the Department of
Environment and Forest of Arunachal
Pradesh.
This Tiger Reserve has won India
Biodiversity Award 2016 in the category of
‘Conservation of threatened species’ for its
Hornbill Nest Adoption Programme.
Some of the major wildlife species found in
the sanctuaries are tiger, elephant, gaur,
sambar, barking deer, leopard, hornbill etc.
14. BOMDILA
Best time: April – October.
It offers to the tourists
panoramic view of the
awesome Himalayan terrain
with its snow-covered
mountains.
Activities: Trekking and
Hiking.
Bomdila can be reached from
the town of Tezpur by local bus
or shared jeep.
15. APPLE ORCHARDS
The huge trees in the orchards are great
attractions tourists.
It is Asia’s largest Orchidarium.

national highway 130 and it is 170
kilometers away from Tawang.
16. BOMDILA MONASTERY
Bomdila Monastery was established in
the year 1965.
It represents the spiritual essence of
Buddhism.
The monastery resembles Tsona
Gontse Monastery of south Tibet.
Besides the prayers and tantrayana
practices, the young monks are also
taught about the monastic life and
tradition and different subjects by the
senior monks of the monastery.
17. TARIN FISH FARM
Paddy cultivation is a major occupation
in Ziro.
Here, two different varieties of rice are
grown with one variety of fish in the
water.
Bamboo and Pine trees surround the
paddy fields. Each component of this
cultivation has a role to play - just like
in coffee plantations.
Tarin Fish Farm is located at a high
altitude amidst pine and bamboo trees.
High altitude fish are bred here and this
is one of the most popular tourist
attractions in Ziro.

Anini is where the clouds come down the kiss the land.
