Metro Rail- The final option
Human’s life expectation can be decreased by many years if you travel daily in traffic congested
cities. Currently mass mobility involves using buses based on fossil fuel which generate
excessive carbon emissions, dust and hazardous particle matters. If one were to add noise
pollution a picture of a chaotic city emerges. The major cause for the above fact is vehicular
pollution.

We can find huge amount of vehicles on Hyderabad roads giving out hazardous gases. Due to
which the city is losing both its greenery and peace of mind.

The citizens demand a solution from Government on this issue. The government has planned to
start a rapid metro rail transit system in the city which is eco-friendly. But some citizens remain
confused and unaware about the project and its benefits. The need of the hour is to educate the
public of the true nature of metro rail projects that are people friendly, eco-friendly, affordable
and easily accessible. This will improve both health and economic conditions and increase
longevity.

Increase in cycle users:

With the commencement of metro rails, the traffic and pollution problems may come down
radically. The HMR is developing eco-friendly stations in all the 3 corridors.

Many citizens can use cycles as their mode of transport which improvises their health. Cycling is
the best exercise to human muscles. It gives perfect fitness.

But, in present Hyderabad, most of them aren’t in a position to ride cycles and move free on the
roads. So this would be possible only with metro rails. City planners must address this issue and
make cycling a compulsory health fashion statement.

Too many vehicles in the city:

Too many users are contributing towards a traffic mess on the city roads. The growth of
population and upwardly mobile aspirational goals is leading to a rapid increase in vehicular
usage. This can come down with the help of metro rail. It’s every citizen’s right to enjoy mass
public transport system. Now will this remain a dream or become a reality with the advent of
metro rail in the City of Pearls is something for the citizens to decide.

Pedestrians not wanted:

Great cities started with wide pedestrian paths and limited width for horse drawn vehicles.
Pedestrian path included outdoor chairs and tables for the proverbial cup of tea. In today’s
modern city the opposite is true. Roads encroach pedestrian pathways, almost making them
nonexistent. Using your feet to walk has become an insurance risk on our city pathways. For the
purpose of safety many prefer motorized transport. Community walking trails around parks and
in some residential complexes have become the only place to use our feet and get some exercise
for both the body and soul. It’s time to walk before it becomes too late.
