Transportation innovation is important for economic growth and social benefits as populations increase. New technologies can improve logistics and freight hubs, introduce high-speed rail, enhance air safety, and develop green vehicles. Electric cars are growing in acceptance as an environmentally-friendly alternative to gas vehicles. Satellite-based air traffic control systems aim to increase efficiency over outdated ground systems. Maglev trains use magnetic levitation for high-speed travel with minimal fuel consumption, though setup costs are high. Overall, transportation innovations can help reduce fuel use and environmental impact while advancing affordable mobility.
This is a presentation I and my team members prepared for a case study competition during my time at TISS. The objective was to create a marketing strategy for a car wash startup that used steam technology instead of foam and water. Hope it is useful for you all!

BlaBlaCar is a long distance car sharing community, connecting drivers with empty seats and people looking for a ride. Our website and mobile apps allow drivers to publish a planned journey. Passengers can then search available offers, and get in touch with the driver of their choice.
We provide a range of features to create a secure, reliable, trust-based community and easy connections between drivers and passengers. For instance, members specify how chatty they are on the scale “Bla”, “BlaBla” and “BlaBlaBla”, hence the name BlaBlaCar. Members rate one another after travelling together, allowing them to build trusted reputations in the community, and contact details are verified.
BlaBlaCar is currently used by more than 500,000 people every month across Europe. The community, already numbering 2.5 million members, has been growing rapidly since 2009, in great part due to rising fuel costs and expensive rail fares.

There are great expectations around the future of autonomous vehicles (AVs) and equally much uncertainty. Some believe that AVs will transform safety and efficiency and are making significant investments in this area. Others are concerned that the technological developments are outpacing society’s ability to adapt, and there is an urgent requirement to develop better regulation before there is widespread deployment. A global Open Foresight project exploring the key issues for the future of AVs is being undertaken by Future Agenda. Expert workshops around the world are building the informed view.
This project was kicked-off with a global review of the emerging landscape for autonomous vehicles. As well looking at the historical context for self-driving cars and trucks, this initial perspective explores the benefits of AVs; different issues for the movement of people vs. goods; the three primary drivers of adoption and the primary centres for innovation. It also includes commentary on the parallel developments in seaborne and air-based autonomous vehicles. It ends with some of the key questions to be explored by the project.

The Autonomous Revolution of Vehicles and TransportationMark Goldstein
This presentation to the Greater Phoenix Mensa Regional Gathering on November 29, 2019 is a detailed overview of the transformation of transportation through autonomous vehicles and the advent of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) on the ground and in the air, including why Arizona is a hotbed for development and deployment, insight into the enabling sensor and communication technologies, and a forward-looking view of societal impact, markets and opportunities. Waves of change will roll through the transportation industry and practices as autonomy ramps up in personal and mass transportation, as well as in logistics/delivery segments. We examine how autonomous vehicles will be developed, deployed and monetized, creating new business models across the transportation sector. Explore autonomous vehicles roadblocks and operational challenges, emerging standards and protocols, connected services and their associated big data strategies and opportunities.
Transportation 2050 | The future of personal mobilityIdeafarms
A Delphi white paper in collaboration with Ideafarm s. Transportation 2050 presents a radical view of how personal mobility and Mobility as a Service (MaaS) will alter the landscape for transportation in ways that will be as disruptive to the automobile as the automobile was to the horse and buggy.
From electric cars to autonomous vehicles; and from entertainment on-the-go to vehicles that are semi-legal entities, Transportation 2050 provides a future view of mobility that offers a sustainable model for industry and the planet, while changing some of the most fundamental notions we have of the automobile's role, the business model for personal transportation, automobile ownership, and personal mobility.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization's Low Carbon Transport Project hosted a workshop seminar on sustainable transport and mobility for cities in Durban on the 30th of March 2017. This workshop was presented with the aim of highlighting the benefits of using electrified mobility powered by renewable energy. The objectives of the workshop included: Enlightening members of the sustainable transport fraternity in South Africa; sharing the current policy developments for sustainable transport use and operations; discussing the environmental benefits of including electric vehicles in South Africa’s transportation modal mix; offering insights to the various types of transport modes available and those suitable for city commuting and public services; proposing methods to include green vehicles into local government fleets; discussing the possibilities of converting a fleet to electric drive vehicles through other initiatives; demonstrating macroeconomic factors to better understand how the introduction of electrified transport modes could add value to the economy of the city and South Africa at large.
Imagine a world in which people and goods can move with minimum impact on the local environment and climate. Imagine an intelligent transport system with smart infrastructure and smart, connected vehicles powered predominantly by renewable energy, and with enlightened end-users: private individuals and enterprises. Imagine a system that is actually based on user demand. That is what we would like to see.
To put mobility and transport on the track to sustainability, we have to improve energy efficiency, switch to renewable energy and more efficient modes of mobility, and, most importantly, increase smartness at all levels of the system. In practice, the last point means smart and efficient mobility services, cooperative systems, and intelligent vehicles and infrastructure.
VTT has a toolbox and the expertise to tackle all the key challenges of smart low-carbon mobility. And, to really make an impact, we are cooperating with all the key stakeholders in the field. Let us re-invent mobility and co-create a better future together!

1. IMPORTANCE OF TRANSPORTATION INNOVATION
As the population on earth grows, there is a rising need for better transportation and therefore leading number of
nations are indulging in transportation innovation. Technology and innovation when used to better transportation
it will lead to economic growth along with social benefits. For example it will improve logistics and increase freight
hubs, lead to high speed rails, better air safety systems and green vehicles that will reduce the carbon footprints.
Thus, it is important that more attention be given to transportation innovation as it leads to the growth of the
nation.
There is a lot of new technology in transportation that is being researched as well as implemented. It is important
to integrate it not just quickly but also safely. Innovation and technology has pretty much changed the way the
world works so that it is not just efficient but also hazard free and environmentally safe. There has been a boom in
new technology and therefore there are some transportation innovations worth mentioning.
Electric Cars: When the concept was first introduced there was a lot of skepticism in the motor world as well
as amongst consumers. However there is a growing acceptance for these type of cars today. It is a perfect
solution for money-savers, environmentalists and those who wish to do their bit to reduce their carbon foot
print. All you need to do is to plug it in and charge it and then it is good to go. Not only does it not harm the
environment, but you are also saved from the ever rising cost of gas. While it has minor drawbacks, increasing
number of people are choosing this option for their daily commute.
Satellite based Air traffic control systems: Today, most of the air traffic control system is ground based. The
technology being utilized right now dates back to 1960’s. Therefore, it is inefficient. By using satellite based air
traffic control systems, not only will it increase the efficiency but it will also do its job with better proficiency.
In the US, this initiative is being implemented in a number of airports by the name NextGen. Though it is a
costly alternative, it is expected that by 2020 all the airports in the US will utilize the satellite based air traffic
control systems.
2. Maglev Trains: These trains are built in a manner that it has no wheels. The tracks are magnetic and the trains
make use of the force created to propel it further at a high speed. In order to run these trains, very less
amount of fuel is needed. Although there is a high set-up cost involved, it is operational in China and Germany.
Al these innovation will help to make transportation more affordable and also decrease the fuel consumption,
thus helping the environment.
