The origin of the cosmopolitan is somewhat disputed. It is
likely that the drink was created independently by different
bartenders since the 1970s. The cosmopolitan gained
popularity fairly quickly in the 1990s in New York. It was
further popularized among young women by its frequent
mention on the television program Sex and the City.

refreshing summer drink. The history
of the mojito is a debate as to when
exactly it was invented and by whom.
One debate is that it was the English
pirate Richard Drake who prepared
the first version of the drink using
aguardiente (in Spanish that means
fire water).
