This document discusses using art in the German classroom and how it can help teach the ACTFL standards of communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities. It provides examples of using different types of art from realistic to abstract with students of varying German language levels. Suggestions are given for classroom activities where students describe and discuss works of art to practice different modes of communication. Resources for finding art and worksheets for analysis are also provided.
