This article discusses how art education can cultivate democratic values by teaching students to think critically and creatively about social and political issues. The author argues that art education needs to move beyond teaching isolated art skills and focus more on teaching students how to use art as a means to explore diverse perspectives and address problems in their community and the wider world. Students should be empowered to see themselves as agents of social change through art and discussion.
