Creating a space that is both welcoming/inviting and educational in a myriad of different ways, including entertaining, is a goal worth pursuing. Working on a second master's is, well, lots of work. If I had places like this to study, I would go.

This is an overview of basic booktalking skills for presentation to small-to-medium groups and/or for providing online content. Virtual programming can include: in-person programs that are streamed, broadcast, or recorded, or a combination of those; audio podcasts; book and media recommendations on a website; using Zoom or other interactive meeting software for book discussions, etc. Emphasis is on how booktalking programs and Readers Advisory resources have been kept viable remotely through use of technology that maintains existing access and also allows increased or new online consumption/attendance/participation and also with safety precautions in place for live events.
Between them, Becky and Scott have more than 80 years of work experience with Lincoln City Libraries. This includes: creating reading lists and book displays; appearing on local radio to give reading recommendations and promote library events and services; presenting live hour-long thematic book talks; recording book recommendation podcasts of various lengths for online access; conducting video-conferencing genre book discussions; and presenting toddler and pre-school storytime in person and via pre-assembled kits. When this presentation was in development, we had no idea the pandemic would still be such a huge consideration for library programming, so we are not fully in the "after" reality, but there is a variety of usable ideas and concepts contained here for vibrant ongoing booktalking.
Presenters: Becky Wurm Clark, Bess Dodson Walt Branch Library, and Scott Clark, Bennett Martin Public Library, Lincoln City Libraries.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. A ROANOKE PUBLIC LIBRARY
BOOTH AT THE ROANOKE FALL
FESTIVAL
This PowerPoint gives the
steps, I as a library director
of a small town library and
others went through to
provide materials for and
to help set up a booth to
promote the library at our
local festival. The festival
was held from September
4th -7th. Hopefully this will
be guide to other librarians
and others that are
planning a promotional
booth at a local festival.
2. THESE DOUBLE-SIDED BOOKMARKS WERE
MADE OUT OF REGULAR PAPER AND WERE
DESIGNED TO PROMOTE THE FRIENDS OF THE
ROANOKE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
THESE ARE TRI-FOLD BROCHURES THAT WE
GIVE TO ALL NEW PATRONS OR ANYONE
INTERESTED SINCE THEY CONTAIN ALL THE
VITAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE LIBRARY.
3. The se were made up especially for this event but may be kept for
other such events to try to increase those that that use the library.
4. Since the Roanoke Fall Festival is a widely attracting event, we might as
well promote upcoming events at the library to more people.
5. The Roanoke Fall Festival is held at the Roanoke Park so the used
books that will be sold have to be boxed for transport to the park.
6. The President to the Roanoke Public Library’s van was loaded up
with the boxes of used books and other needed items for the booth.
7. This is the spot at the Roanoke Fall Festival that the Roanoke Public
Library booth has been designated on the tennis courts.
8. Since the van was load with books there was no room for the book
carts so a friend and I walked the 2 carts to the park.
9. The book carts got to the designated spot before the other items
arrived since we walked them there.
10. A canopy tent and a waterproof sign are the bare bones of the booth.
11. The President of the Friends’ son unloaded the van full of books
onto the tennis court at the park for us.
12. The President of the Friends’ husband and the Board of Trustee
President set up a table under the canopy.
13. The books are then unboxed and put out on the book carts ready to
be sold.
14. It was decided that not enough brochures were made up so here more
are readied to be handed out so everyone knows what the library offers.
15. A table cloth was put over the wood table and the printed up items
are set on display to attract everyone’s attention.
16. To attract even more attention, flags were hung diagonally across
the Library’s booth area.
17. There has been talk of the library leaving Roanoke and merging
with Allen County or the Huntington Public Libraries.
18. Because there were so many used books to sale another table (with
the red tablecloth) was added besides the 2 book carts.
19. The area was finally all set and ready to go with time to spare before
the Roanoke Fall Festival was even ready to officially open.
20. This is the final product. As you can see, people indeed were
buying used books and learning about the library.
