Rosie's class took a trip to the Aratoi museum to learn about the history and native wildlife of the Wairarapa region. They met with a guide named Miss Te Whaiti who taught them about the 22 species of native freshwater fish in Lake Wairarapa, 6 of which are threatened. Some threats to the native fish include introduced predators, deterioration of habitat, and drainage of wetlands. The museum displayed artifacts like fishing hooks, eel traps, and cloaks to illustrate Maori fishing and culture.
