This thesis examines the implementation and evaluation of a graphical user interface using Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) technique on a personal digital assistant (PDA) with a small screen. An evaluation with 10 subjects compared reading speed, comprehension, workload and attitude between RSVP on the PDA and reading a printed book. Results found no significant differences in reading speed or comprehension between the two formats. However, subjects rated the workload higher and found RSVP more difficult when using the PDA compared to reading printed text.
