Dale Carnegy's lessons on how to be liked serve as a perfect foundation for recruiters who want to build strong connections with candidates. In this presentation, we explore how these lessons cam be applied to recruitment and to conversational agents (aka chatbots) to build strong connections.
If your voice guidelines are just six adjectives in the brand book you're not alone, but you’re missing a big opportunity.
Your voice has a huge role to play in conveying what you stand for and communicating with your audience. It isn’t just about brand, marketing, or the emotional side of things. It’s also about the rational: if you’re trying to create a great product or service, voice has an impact on your user experience too.
It’s time to give your voice more consideration and your writers better guidance. In this webinar you’ll learn about what makes a good voice, and how to create guidelines your colleagues will actually use. You’ll also hear a case study from Samaritans on how they created and rolled out a refreshed brand voice.
At Big Fish Presentations, we know that boring presentations have absolutely nothing to do with the topic. If the content doesn't seem interesting, you can change that by how you present the information. Here are 8 ways to make ANYTHING interesting.
Persona marketing helps marketers connect with audiences for years. Here is how to apply those same principles in the recruitment context, to build better marketing and conversational agents (chatbots) that build strong connections.
You will learn what you need to avoid so that your presentation will be a block buster and investors or customers will be thrilled BUYING and not being bored to death.
That ensures that your presentation will be as famous as the Pyramids of Giza.

Recruiting has changed my life…
First, I experienced it as a personal pain… something I had to do to get paid.
Then I experienced it as a an problem area that I wanted to solve with technology
And now I’m experiencing it as the owner of a scaling startup… In the hot space of enterprise AI, my ability to attract talent will completely decide if we explode or flatten out in the next few years.
Was initially built from Carnegie's 14-week courses
Dale Carnegie was a lecturer and developer of courses. core ideas in his books is that it is possible to change other people's behavior by changing one's behavior toward them.

Become genuinely interested in other people. "You can make more friends in two months by being interested in them, than in two years by making them interested in you." The only way to make quality, lasting friendships is to learn to be genuinely interested in them and their interests.
Smile. Happiness does not depend on outside circumstances, but rather on inward attitudes. Smiles are free to give and have an amazing ability to make others feel wonderful. Smile in everything that you do.
True on the phone and in person. Works with laughter too. Hahaha. And it works with emojis too.
Remember that a person's name is, to that person, the sweetest and most important sound in any language. "The average person is more interested in their own name than in all the other names in the world put together."[6] People love their names so much that they will often donate large amounts of money just to have a building named after themselves. We can make people feel extremely valued and important by remembering their name.
Extend that knowledge from first name only, to picking up 2 or 3 interesting facts before the interview... I don't read the CV during the interview, I read it beforehand and I make one out two references to it during the chat. Likewise, I'm positively impressed when a candidate has done his research on me. Showing that you have reserved some memory space for someone is key to making them feel important /wanted.
Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves. The easiest way to become a good conversationalist is to become a good listener. To be a good listener, we must actually care about what people have to say. Many times people don't want an entertaining conversation partner; they just want someone who will listen to them.
Caring about candidates can be damn hard in the middle of everything else. It helps to remind myself of everything I can learn in the process. Before the interview, I jot down a couple of things that I want to learn from the interview, just for my own personal advancement. I keep an open mind about what that might be. And by showing appreciation for the work performed, I can get into the how, not just the what. I advise that open up the conversation to say what you like about their profile, and to challenge them on how they are going to take the next step.
Talk in terms of the other person's interest. The royal road to a person's heart is to talk about the things he or she treasures most. If we talk to people about what they are interested in, they will feel valued and value us in return.
Unless they already work in our specific field, asking candidates to come up with smart ways to automate recruitment is not fair to them. They will never know as much as us. Instead, we look for something they are passionate about... It can be ruby on Rails or Sales or sailing... And we dig into that, finding out why they love it. Putting candidates in their domain of strength, in familiar territory is more likely to get honest, non scripted answers.
Make the other person feel important – and do it sincerely. The golden rule is to treat other people how we would like to be treated. We love to feel important and so does everyone else. People will talk to us for hours if we allow them to talk about themselves. If we can make people feel important in a sincere and appreciative way, then we will win all the friends we could ever dream of.
Important people have busy days. Asking people to wait for 2 hours before an interview sends the message that their time is not important. Setting an agenda at the start of the interview, telling them how long the interview will take, and what will happen next is also a sign of respect (and protects you from having to be rude when the time runs out). To make someone feel important, you can also thank them for coming and asking every recruiter to do a personal follow up.
