2.  The hospitality industry includes many career paths and
options for those who enjoy interacting with people and
providing them with the support they need. One of these
options is a career in hotel management, which involves
operating and overseeing a hotel location.
 It involves coordinating the various departments (IT, finance,
front office, housekeeping etc.) within a hotel to ensure that
everything runs smoothly and efficiently, while also
maintaining high standards of quality and customer
satisfaction.

3. HISTORY AND DRAWBACKS FACED BY THE
HOTEL INDUSTRY
 Earlier, hotels were dependent on the paperwork to
record transactions and details of the customer to
remain in touch which never enhanced the productivity
of hotels and the tasks assigned to staff were never
authorized properly leading to dissatisfaction among
guests.
 There was difficulty in maintaining current guest details
and large number of labour attendance and their
accounts.
 Inaccuracy in maintaining hotel inventory which affected
the annual turnover negatively.

 The use of Information Technology has increased at a
very fast rate over 20 years and it is quite efficient in
managing the Hotel Industries as they were
revolutionized by more innovation and advancements.

services, more security, effective communication and a
consumer can access information anytime. Data can be
recorded automatically on different systems with full
safety. Many problems have been resolved after the
introduction of IT.

Computer based lodging information system which

 ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (EMS)
Involves monitoring equipment or procedures in order to
control and regulate the energy consumption in hotels by
using Infrared Motion Sensors, door contacts occupancy to
control the Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning
Systems. Controls the lights and other appliances of a room.

Enables managers to plan cash flow and stock control more
effectively. Provides chef with a more structured way of
planning menus, taking into nutritional and financial
considerations.

A server which physically rings the order and records
