3. Think of your letter as an Argument

4. Choose an appropriate salutation
If you know the person’s name and title, use it:
“Dear Attorney Lim.” If you don’t know the
person’s title, one good solution is to address
him or her by first and last name: “Dear Jean
Chaves.”
If, as sometimes happens, you must write to an
unknown reader, use “Dear Sir or Madam.”
Another option might be to omit the salutation
completely in such situations and instead use a
subject line, for example: “Subject: Public
Relations Internship Application.

Chronological vs Reverse Chronological
Chronological order means arranging events or information in the
order they occurred, from oldest to newest.
Chronological vs Reverse Chronological
The advantage of chronological order is that it provides a clear timeline of
events, making it easy to follow the progression of activities. The disadvantage is
that important or relevant information may be buried within earlier entries.
Chronological vs Reverse Chronological
Reverse chronological order, organizes events or
information from newest to oldest.
Chronological vs Reverse Chronological
The advantage of reverse chronological order is
that it prioritizes recent and up-to-date
information, making it more relevant. However,
the disadvantage is that it lacks historical
context and can be confusing for those trying to
understand the full timeline of events.
Solicited vs Unsolicited application letter
A solicited application letter is submitted in
response to a specific job opening or
request.
Unsolicited application letter is sent
without a job posting.
