"Archaic Torso of Apollo" is a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke. Rilke was a Bohemian–Austrian poet
and the poem has been translated from German to English. The poem's literal reference is to a statue
named the Miletus Torso. The marble statue represents a male's torso with no head, arms, or legs
and is suspected to be a depiction of a Greek god. It currently resides in the Louvre Museum in

For example, when we look at statues (of people) the first thing we notice is the face and that is
what we base beauty on. However, when you remove the face you can look at other parts and see
how they have their own allure. Rilke starts off with 'we cannot know his legendary head', stating

still suffused with brilliance' because the torso is all that is left to look at and is still brilliant in itself.

central Greek gods, including Zeus and Athena are. The records do describe a god named Paiawon,

percent of Americans believe the Apollo Eleven moon landing was a hoax. On July 20th, 1969,
Apollo Eleven became the first manned mission to land on the moon. Several photographs were
taken of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin exiting the Lunar Module. However, many Americans do
not believe this to be true. They claim that the US government faked the landing and that the
photographs were shot in a movie studio. conspiracy theorists criticize the picture of the waving
American flag. since the moon has no atmosphere, there cannot be any air to blow the flag around.

Zeus, The god of lightning and hospitality. Apollo would help Zeus with mortals that messed with
gods and especially with Zeus. He would also help Zeus with tasks such as talking with gods with
disobeyed Zeus and the gods and goddesses in total. Zeus also helped him with tasks and favors like
helping him with music. But there was a problem forming. A group of mortals was starting to
sabotage fellow gods tasks. They would steal things from the gods and importance mortals. They
burned down some of the mortal villages that some gods owned. Apollo also heard from

Sun god Apollo/his haikus are terrible/but he thinks they're great. Apollo is a unique god because he
acts the most human, is one of the most powerful gods, and has a terrible love life. Born on the
island of Delos, with help and assistance of his twin sister Artemis, Apollo is the god of several
things: the sun, archery, prophecy, music, poetry, and medicine, plague and disease. He glowed and
shimmered like the sun and at laurel leaves in his hair. He's also the patron of bachelors, so he's had
quite a few lovers (James). Apollo's the most human out of the Olympians. He acts on urges and
feelings like most people do. His origin story is where most of these feelings take root. As
mentioned briefly in the previous paragraph, Apollo was born on the island of Delos to the Titan
Leto and the king of the gods Zeus. Hera was furious when she found out that Leto was pregnant
with twins, so she told all the lands that were rooted to the earth that they would be cursed if they
sheltered Leto, and she held back her daughter Eileithyia, who's the goddess of childbirth, from
going and helping Leto in her labor. She was turned away again and again, and even chased by the
monster Python until she came to the floating island Delos. The island welcomed her since it had no
roots in the earth. She laid down and gave birth to Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and moon (and
several other things, but this isn't about her.). Artemis then acted as a midwife and helped her mother
give birth to

Art Analysis : Apollo And Daphne
Part One: Apollo and Daphne, a Baroque sculpture, was chiseled by Bernini during the time of the
Catholic Reformation, or Counter–Reformation. The Catholic Reformation was when the Catholic
Church began a movement to gain a larger following of Catholicism and reclaim power. As a result,
church leaders (in this case Cardinal Borghese) commissioned works of art that had a sensory appeal
and could evoke a more emotional response by capturing the attention of its observer. For this
reason, Apollo and Daphne, a marble sculpture, engages the observer with its movement and
dynamic portrayal of human bodies. With its attention to details such as texture and near life–like
portrayal, Apollo and Daphne draws in the viewer just as the Catholic Reformation aimed to draw in
followers of the church.
Part Two:
O: Apollo and Daphne, sculpted by Bernini, is a detailed marble sculpture capturing the moment
when the God Apollo makes contact with Daphne, who is being transformed into a tree.
P: Important parts of the sculpture are Apollo's body, Daphne's body, the ground, a tree and its laurel
leaves, drapery, and Apollo's signature shoes. Specific parts of Apollo's body that are significant are
his facial expression, his right arm reaching behind him with his wrist flexed, his legs in a running
position, and his eyes. Likewise, essential parts of Daphne's body are her facial expression, her eyes,
her torso of bark, her fingers turning into branches and leaves, her toes forming into roots,

The Apollo 1 : The Disaster Of Apollo 1
Apollo 1 was a big disaster for NASA, and tragic for their mission of going to space. Many things
could have been prevented from the accident ever occurring, and no one would have died. The
disaster of Apollo 1 was the first accident for NASA, because of them not looking at each equipment
Apollo 1 was NASA first attempt at going to space. Three astronauts were set to take place. Apollo 1
was set to take off in December 1966, but that never happened(history nasa gov). 15 minutes before
the spaceship would lift off, the spaceship switched to internal power. The Americans started the
Apollo project, there were three in the spaceship breathing oxygen. Ground Control realized that all
their heart rates were going up. The spaceship pointed to a short in the technology, and later Roger
Chaffee yelled "It was a fire." Their spaceship had no cameras, but a camera was watching the
spaceships porthole. The operator saw the fire coming from the porthole, and he also saw Edwards
hand trying to open the hatch. The Men started to freak out about the fire, and started to grad the
hatch quickly but the hatch was strong. The hatch was not going to be easy to open, and would not
have helped them escaped. After the accident security was sent to the Complex 34(When
Technology Fails). They were sent to check the power switches, and to take pictures of what
happened. The reports said that even if they got the hatch open they still would not have escaped the
fire. Not long after the report of the fire, a call was made to the fire office. From log records, it gave
the idea that the fire contraption, and staff were sent. The specialist observing the test from the brick
house close to the cushion had just continued to the base of the umbilical pinnacle. The hatch was
almost impossible to undo due to it not being screwed on right(history nasa gov). Help was close to
being there, but the explosion made them not able to get there in time. They recorded that the
accident could have been avoided, and Nasa suspended the next project. Since the fire of Apollo 1
many changes were made to the next Apollo like, Stainless steel, and Making it harder for the
spaceship to catch on fire again. While they were waiting for pictures, and a full
